Sikander Rajwade leads 3 Indians into BIG 50 Day 2D

A few months ago, PokerBaazi hosted The Game Changer which became the first tournament in the country with an INR 2 Crore single prize pool. There was a 4-way deal on the Final Table and while the official winner was Prashanth Sekar, three other players also emerged victorious with him, all four claiming INR 30+ Lakh in prize money.

One of these four was Sikander Rajwade and after that massive win, the player is now also in the mix at the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP), leading three Indians into Day 2D of Event #3: The Big 50 – $500 NLHE. Over 9,000 entries participated in the final starting flight 1D, creating a new WSOP record of 28,497 entries for a single tournament.

Rajwade leads the Indian contingent from this starting flight, with a decent stack of 434,000 chips. Along with him is Shravan Chhabria (114k) and Raghav Bansal (59k). Indian origin Nipun Java (92k) is also in the mix. While they have progressed, they will need to chip up considerably on 2D if they want to catch up with the current chip leader Andrei Khosh who has 970k chips at the moment.

4 Indians have already made it to Day 3 of the tournament, with two progressing from Day 2A and two more from Day 2B, while we will shortly bring you an update from Day 2C, where five Indians will be in action, led by Kunal Patni and followed closely by Sriharsha D and Prashray Rai.

This tournament is being played in a unique format where even Day 2 has multiple flights and while we have Indians progressing from each flight, there were some who finished in the money in Day 2B itself but failed to progress to Day 3. These included Ronak Vyas – 534th for $1,101 (~INR 76,100) and Siddharth Mundada – 584th for $1,002 (~INR 69,300).

Day 1D top 10 chip counts:

  1. Andrei Khosh – 970,000
  2. Arne Kern – 963,000
  3. Kevin Mooney – 944,000
  4. Shahin Shojaeyan – 860,000
  5. Muhammad Abdel Rahim – 860,000
