Romit Advani wins PPL MoneyMaker title in Goa

PokerBaazi is one of the biggest Indian poker companies and very recently, they hosted the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) online where thousands of entries participated across ten days on their platform. Since the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) is also returning, they decided it would be fun to have the final tables of two of the biggest PPL tournaments in their live poker room in Goa!

PokerBaazi took over the Casino Pride 2 poker room in July this year and the luxurious room saw two final tables playing themselves out over the last couple of days. The first of them was the PPL High Roller which was won by Shashank Jain aka ‘Westworld’ after he outlasted Anish ‘Illusionist’ Patra in heads-up.

Last night, the PPL MoneyMaker tournament resumed at Pride 2 with 9 players still in contention and some very big names involved too, led by Siddharth Karia aka ‘schemer’. Some other known entities on that table included Vinayak Bajaj, Kartik Ved, Romit Advani, Dhaval Mudgal and others.

Mudgal had a fabulous time at the IPC comeback edition in Goa, where he final tabled both the Main Event as well as the High Roller. Here too, he cashed for a fair amount as Romit Advani went on to bust him in 9th place and then become the eventual champion. It was a great effort from Advani, who began the FT as the second shortest stack after Mudgal.

The chip leader Karia was eliminated in third place for INR 8.75 Lakh and that’s when the heads-up session began between Shawn Jose aka ’achayan’ and Romit Advani aka ’tilt83′. Heads-up itself lasted all of only one hand as Advani’s pocket Sevens were all-in against AT of his opponent. The board ran out 4 Q 5 J 5 and Advani took away the title of PPL MoneyMaker!

He was rewarded with a massive prize of INR 19,25,532 for this effort while Jose took away INR 13,49,344 for finishing second. After he victory, Advani said, “I feel relieved and elated. The title means a lot as I had several FT’s and deep runs but couldn’t convert it. I have been putting a lot of effort, study, and volume into my game, and the monkey is finally off my back. I am thrilled.”

Final Table Results:

  1. Romit ‘tilt83’ Advani – INR 19,25,532
  2. Shawn ’achayan’ Jose – INR 13,49,344
  3. Siddharth ’schemer’ Karia – INR 8,75,036
