Raman Gujral bags PPL ME; Ankit Jajodia tops Leaderboard

It’s all over. Eight exciting days of online poker action on PokerBaazi and the fun all came to an end last night. Five tournaments were scheduled yesterday on Day 8 of the latest PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) and this special edition saw a total of 38 tournaments being contested.

The biggest tournament was the Main Event (MoneyMaker) and that was bagged by none other than Raman Gujral last night, while the ever-consistent Ankit Jajodia managed to hold on to the PPL Leaderboard despite having received a lot of competition over the last week. Here’s a complete summary of PPL Day 8:

PPL Event #34: INR 2 Lakh GTD

233 players and an additional 234 re-entries registered to the first PPL tournament of the day, where only the top 54 entries were paid out. By the end of the tournament, ‘Happydent’ was the player to take away the top prize of INR 46,933 having outlasted Ram Kakkar aka ‘mowgumotu’ in heads-up, with the latter taking away INR 32,900 in prize money.

PPL Event #35: BSS PLO INR 5 Lakh GTD

INR 2,750 was the buy-in for the second tournament of the day, with 316 entries registering in all and taking the prize pool up to INR 7.9 Lakh. Topping the tournament and taking away INR 1,74,511 as prize money was Ankit Jajodia aka ‘akj290’ who not only won the title but also valuable points to top the PPL Leaderboard. In heads-up, he beat Prince Singh aka ‘NaNki’ who bagged INR 1,22,450 for finishing second.

PPL Event #36: The MoneyMaker INR 1 Crore GTD

This is the one everyone had been waiting for since quite a while. PPL Day 8 and the very popular MoneyMaker served as the Main Event of the series, with a buy-in of INR 11,000. Once again, the guarantee was smashed on PokerBaazi, with a massive field of 1,341 entries joining the Main Event and the advertised guaranteed being passed, with a new prize pool of INR 1.34 Crore being created.

The grind was an extremely long one, taking as much as 10 hours and 15 minutes to find a winner. In all, 144 players reached the money but the player to finish with the fattest pay-check of the night was Raman Gujral aka ‘ifryu’, outlasting every other entry on the night and walking away as the new PokerBaazi MoneyMaker, and INR 22,52,880 richer too. His consistency on live and online felts has been admirable and this major bankroll boost is another feather in his cap. His heads-up opponent ‘gatamujer’ won INR 15,79,698 for finishing second while Kavish Kukreja aka ‘Narcos’ ended 3rd in this mega tournament.

PPL Event #37: BSS SuperStack INR 25 Lakh GTD

This tournament is played every Sunday on PokerBaazi and is one of their most popular weekly offerings, which was proved once again as the guarantee was smashed and the prize pool taken up to INR 36,45,000 because of a participation from 729 entries. Again, it was a known face of Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ who won the title and added a massive amount of INR 6,59,745 to his poker bankroll. It was a tough field and his heads-up opponent was another very good poker player in Ashish Ahuja aka ‘rocky3705’ who would have to be content with the runner-up prize of INR 4,62,550.

PPL Event #38: BSS MegaStack INR 5 Lakh GTD

The final tournament of the series was a relatively smaller one but even here, the guarantee was passed with 260 entries each paying INR 2,750 as the buy-in. The top 27 players made it to the money and the victor in this tournament ended up being Faiz Alam aka ‘AilaGaya’ who has also been winning very frequently on the virtual felts across platforms. It was not too long ago that Alam was also among one of the 5For5 winners on Spartan Poker. Last night on PokerBaazi, he won INR 1,52,945 after defeating ‘sidchat’ in heads-up, who took home INR 1,07,315 for his impressive run and second-place finish.

That’s all we have for you from this recently concluded edition of the PokerBaazi Premier League, where Ankit Jajodia topped the PPL Leaderboard, overtaking Gaurav Sood aka ‘gaug17’ on the final day of the series. Keep following GutshotMagazine.com for all similar updates from the world of poker.
