Pranjal Gandhi wins two online titles in one day

Every poker player in the country eagerly waits for Sunday, as this day sees the biggest online poker tournaments taking place. Most players are free to play on this day and this leads to increased participation, increased prize pools and obviously, increased prizes for those who finish in the money.

The Spartan Poker is one of India’s top poker websites and they host a number of major tournaments every Sunday, one being the Big Daddy tournament, where the player who tops the field gets to take away his tournament winnings as well as an INR 30,000 package trip to the Big Daddy casino in Goa.

Big Daddy INR 5 Lakh GTD began at 4pm yesterday, with a buy-in of INR 880. A healthy participation of 628 entries meant that the guarantee was passed, and a new prize pool of INR 5,26,400 was created. This was shared among the top 54 players with a minimum cash of INR 2,369, but the player who walked away with the biggest prize of all was Pranjal Gandhi aka ‘lilmessipranjal’.

Gandhi took home the top prize of INR 97,384 and will also be flying down to Goa soon, for a chance to multiply these winnings in the Big Daddy casino. The tournament ended last night in Level #42, with the blinds at 30,000/60,000 – 6,000, after Gandhi beat ‘Nawab1305’ in heads-up, who had to settle for the runner-up prize of INR 70,274.

After creating a big chip lead in heads-up, Gandhi didn’t mind shoving all-in pre-flop with Th 2d and ultimately, he took down the title and the package trip with two pairs – Tens and Fives. Remember, this isn’t Gandhi’s first win on Spartan, having also taken down an SSS Mega Stack title in June this year.

6-Max Monster on PokerBaazi

Now this wasn’t enough for Gandhi, who wanted to keep up this hot run, so he switched to PokerBaazi and played their INR 5 lakh GTD 6-Max Monster tournament simultaneously. This one started a while after the Big Daddy and he beat 211 entries here on Pokerbaazi to ship the tournament under the name ‘lilmessi’ and take away the top prize of INR 1,16,050. This tournament had a buy-in of INR 2,750 and the INR 5 lakh guarantee was passed, with a new prize pool of INR 5.27 lakh being generated. Gandhi thus had a brilliant Sunday, making considerable additions to his poker bankroll.
