Pranav Khandalkar wins Maverick on Adda52

Featured poker tournaments take place daily on the various online platforms in India, including the likes of Spartan, PokerBaazi and Adda52. A part of Adda52’s weekly line-up is the Maverick INR 6 lakh GTD, a tournament that is played every Wednesday night with a buy-in of INR 1,100 and a start time of 8pm.

Yesterday, a total of 537 entries (290 players + 247 re-entries) paid the required entry fee to be a part of the tournament, and from them, only the top 55 players were paid out (min-cash INR 3,532). It was expected to be a softer field than usual as the WPT India series is also taking place in Goa, with huge prizes on offer.

It turned out to be a very long grind indeed here on Adda52 last night, with Maverick going on for nearly 8 hours before a winner was declared. It was at 3:55am this morning when a winner finally emerged from this vast field. It was Pranav Khandalkar aka ‘pkpok’ who took home top honours and the first-place prize of INR 1,01,351.

Khandalkar has been consistent in online poker over the last few months, with his rise to fame being when he shipped The Millionaire on Spartan for a whopping INR 25 lakh pay-day this year in May. He also won a WPT Korea Mega Satty on PokerDangal in August, while chopping the Adda52 Millions last month, so he has been winning across all the major websites.

Last night, he beat Sanish Chhabra aka ‘sanish21’ in heads-up of Maverick on Adda52, who had to settle for the second-place prize of INR 91,592. Now Chhabra has been in some fine form himself in online poker, smashing through a huge field of 1,847 entries to win the recent Gayle Storm 3.0 tournament on Adda52.

There was a heads-up deal made between the two with Khandalkar slightly ahead in chips, and that’s why there wasn’t much of a difference between the first and second places. Khandalkar not only shipped Maverick on Adda52, but also made a deep run in Destiny on Spartan last night, finishing 5th for a prize of around INR 92k.

Gutshot caught up with this player to ask him about the tournament experience and his overall good night in poker. He said, “I’m quite happy to win Maverick after beating a field of over 500 people. We played over two hours – handed with the chip lead changing from one player to the other, but I finally picked up a few spots and shipped the tourney. Even though it’s a small amount, it feels great to win. Was also brilliant to Final Table Destiny on Spartan.”
