Post-election gaming scenario to be addressed at 2019 SPiCE


The 2019 SPiCE Conference or Strategic Platform for iGaming Conference and Exhibition is scheduled to take place between 25th – 27th February 2019 at the Goa Marriott Resort and Spa. The conference has released its plan for the 3-day meet. The conference, managed and hosted by Eventus International, a global event management company specialising in gaming expos and cons, will start the Conference with a SPiCE Breaker Event. The event will be a networking one, where attendees from the industry will be making acquaintances and enhance their business network over a few cocktails.

On 26th Feb, there will be a lot of presentations from acclaimed dignitaries from the industry. The topics will range from problems faced by Asian gaming markets to issues arising out of official versus unofficial sports data. The day will also see the conference’s speakers address the issue of direct and indirect taxes on gaming in the country.

Along with the above, there will also be a panel held to discuss how the 2019 General Elections of India will affect the future of gambling and betting. The dignitaries will also discuss growth and expansion opportunities in South-East Asian casino industry on the day. Founder of Glaws.in, Jay Sayta, will be present on Day 2. He will be in an advisory capacity to SPiCE 2019 and will also feature in Day 2’s panel.

The final day of 27th February will see several notable industry persons talk about how India can learn form the recent efforts by US to regulate its sports betting industry. Recently, Washington DC and Mississippi had greenlighted sports betting in their jurisdiction, paving the way for other states in USA. Closer to home, Shashi Tharoor, Rajya Sabha MP, had also advocated regulation of sports betting and even presented a bill in Parliament entitled ‘Sports (Online Gaming and Prevention of Fraud) Bill, 2018’.

Day 3 will also see topics like cryptocurrency, blockchain and other cutting-edge technologies being addressed. A total of five panel discussions will be hosted on this day. The panel will discuss opportunities for growth in online fantasy sports sector and more generally, esports in India. Some among the list of dignitaries in 2019 SPiCE include The Spartan Poker CEO Amin Rozani, NODWIN’s founder Akshat RatheeBaadshah Gaming CEO Madhav Gupta, Deltin Group Business Head Manish AdnaniPokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh, Ability Games Director Navneet Makharia, Viaan Industries Chairman Raj Kundra and AIGF CEO Roland Landers.
