World College Poker Unites with PokerStars For 2021 Championship ME

The 2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event is a summer online poker event for students of age 18 year and above. The event is a freeroll tournament to be hosted on PokerStars for students worldwide.

Students who wish to participate in the tournament need to have an active student ID. The ID has to be issued from a college, university or a vocational school. At the end of the event, the student who wins the tournament will be entitled to receive a PokerStars European Poker Tour package worth approximately €8,000. Additionally the winner will also receive an engraved trophy from PokerStars. That’s not all, the winner also gets an opportunity to take on poker legend Patrik Antonius in a heads-up match.

The runner-up will receive some notable prizes such as a live poker training session with high-stakes pro Matt Berkey. Berkey is the founder of the Solve For Why poker training academy located in Las Vegas. The travel accommodations for the runner-up will also be included in the package.

Freeroll tournaments for the students follow a different format from the standard online poker multi-table tournament (MTT). As per the format, competitors from all around the globe will compete in six regional tournaments on July 24th, 2021. 50 best players from each of the six regions will qualify for the second round. The second round will be held on July 31st and will see 300 players competing for the final 45 spots.

The 45 players will compete in Round three on August 7th on PokerStars. The World College Poker Championship Main Event will play down to the final table of six. The final table will feature a custom gaming chair for all six players as well as a subscription to Solve For Why and Jonathan Little’s PokerCoaching.com training site.

The date of the final table has not been disclosed yet, however, the World College Poker organization and PokerStars are hoping to have a live finale, if the COVID-19 travel restrictions are eased.

The event is a free to enter tournament played on PokerStars, however some countries like Spain, Italy, and Portugal, along with those who reside in US states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey are excluded from the event due to local rules.
