PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship Postponed Indefinitely Over COVID-19 Scare

The second edition of the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) that was scheduled in 2021 has now been postponed indefinitely. Barcelona was the next location of the live event. In a recent press release, the poker brand announced that the event will be cancelled due to the uncertain COVID-19 situation in Europe.

Poker fans around the world will be disappointed with this development as many were looking forward to this prestigious event. However, PokerStars have assured that once the time is right, PSPC will be back with a bang.

The first PSPC was held in January 2019 and was introduced as the final edition of PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The mega event took place at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and pulled in a sea of 1,039 players. Out of these, 181 players took home a piece of the USD 26.4 Million prize pool.

The Main Event of the poker fest saw a former fitness trainer, Ramon Colillas take the winning title including USD 5.1 Million in winnings. Colillas had beaten many poker professionals for the top spot, a feat that was not easy to achieve. The PSPC event was recorded as the biggest buy-in tournament worth USD 25,000.

While live poker around the world and Europe is still recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, many brands are still taking it slow. The threat which the virus poses is still real, which is why PokerStars decided to postpone PSPC until further notice.

The PSPC was initially slated to be held in 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. Poker players in India who are looking forward to playing in PSPC might have to wait a bit longer.
