Recent updates in the case of Poker player Jon Jonsson has shook the poker industry. The 41-year old Poker player Jon Jonsson went missing in Dublin early last year while in the city for the Dublin Poker Festival. He last left his Bonnington Hotel room on 9 February and has been missing since then. It was reported to the Iceland police that, Jonsson was killed ‘by accident’ by a fellow countryman after a falling out over squandered gambling money. It was also said that Jonsson lost ‘more than €4,000’ belonging to an Icelandic criminal’ the night before he went missing. This was said in a statement by an imprisoned criminal in Jonsson’s homeland.

According to hendon Mob, Jon Jonnson’s total live earnings are $429 and in the all time money list, Jon ranks 452,623rd. The recent update in the case is that Jonsson, was in fact ‘accidentally killed’ in a row over money lost in an illegal poker game. The jailed Icelandic criminal source put Jonsson’s family in touch with a woman who was supposedly closer to the poker player in order to get some help on the issue, as it is now been believed that the alleged criminal was not in Ireland at the time of Jonsson’s disappearance and possible death. The €4,000 reputedly lost by Jonsson was said to be buy-in money for several other poker players in town for the festival. The following morning he disappeared and it is believed he had gone to meet the man who had given him the money.

Descriptions of the highstakes poker game state that it was frequented by other foreign nationals too and it seems when Jonsson attempted to leave after losing some of the money he was prevented from doing so and was slapped by other card players.
