New Caledonia Poker Open to kick off today

Poker in Europe always had a strong presence. With big brands in the poker community like WPT and PokerStars’ EPT hosting its European tours every year. The live tours always attracts the best of the best high-stakes pros from the region and beyond and every year, awards heavy pay-checks in cash prizes.

One such series that has made headlines in the past is the New Caledonia Poker Open (NCPO). The series has made a strong impact in the region in previous editions and it’s now back for the 6^th time at the Grand Casino in New Caledonia, a France-dependent island in the Pacific Ocean.

The series is scheduled between 26^th Feb – 8^th March 2019 and offers 9 different tournaments lined-up in its schedule. The buy-ins range from XPF 33k for smaller ones to the XPF 110k (~INR 74k) Main Event. Top pros from nearby countries like Australia, Japan, New Zealand, etc. are expected to make an appearance, however, acclaimed French pro and Winamax team member Gaëlle Baumann has also confirmed her presence.

Day 0, i.e. today, will be an ice-breaker kind of a day where a welcome party will be hosted for the players and one Main Event satellite worth XPF 14k will be running. The second day, Day 1, will see two flights hosted for Event #1 XPF 33k NLHE. Next in the line-up is an XPF 55k PLO event (Event #2).

The Main Event Day 1A will see its first starting flight hosted on 5^th March, 3 pm local time. Day 1B will be hosted on the following day at 1 pm. On 7^th March, the Main Event will play down to the Final Table and on 8^th March, the final day of the series, the event will declare its champion.

Tournaments like Event #4 XPF 55k Bounty NLHE, Event #6 XPF 33k Mix PLO High & Low, etc. will be studded throughout the series. The series is not a completely high-stakes one and has plenty of low and medium-stakes events for players with different pocket sizes to indulge in.
