NBA announces live streaming partnership in India

Sporta Technologies that owns FanCode and Dream11 signed a deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA), as official gaming partner in India on Tuesday, announcing the league’s first partnership to live stream NBA matches and programming to its fans in the country.

NBA is a global sports and media business built around four professional sports leagues, the National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, the NBA G League and the NBA 2K League. With this deal, NBA fans can now subscribe to FanCode to have live and on-demand access to select games throughout the 2019-2020 NBA season that comes with season games, The Finals, and playoffs.

Managing Director of NBA India Rajesh Sethi stated, “By offering NBA games on FanCode, we will further connect with millions of fans in India who enjoy NBA daily fantasy by offering them features like fantasy research, game recaps, news, live scores and much more. As the demand for NBA programming and content continues to grow in India, we are committed to providing fans with new and personalized ways to connect with the NBA.”

A multi-sport aggregator, FanCode launched in 2018, offering a wide spectrum of content like live matches, scores, and other engagements to connect with the sports audience. They claim to have 10 million applications installed, covering events like such as PKL Kabaddi, football, cricket, ICC World Cup, IPL, NBA through their fantasy sports operators like Dream11, MyTeam11, and MPL.

Now, Sporta Technologies got into Over the Top (OTT) media services with FanCode. OTT services allow direct streaming of live sports matches in the country and now, Fancode will be competing with multi-billion platforms like Hotstar, Sony Liv, etc. FanCode will now live stream these games that will be available on Dream11 for fantasy gaming.

To broadcast league in India, NBA partnered with Sony. Pre-season games were held last month in Mumbai for the first time ever and this deal is also the company’s first live-streaming partnership in India. FanCode Co-Founder Yannick Colaco expressed, “Basketball fans will now have comprehensive coverage of the NBA on FanCode, including live streams of all the biggest games, scores, features, news coverage and fantasy research.”
