Monday Round Up: Pawan Tez Slayed The Poker Felts Mercilessly To Win The Big Deal


During an interview, Sanish Chhabra said, ‘Mondays are considered to be a holiday for poker players.’ While this may stand true for Chhabra, several other pros from the industry took their chances yesterday and tasted victory. Pawan Tez, the poker star who is known to ship tourneys on a Monday has nailed yet another high value tournament and grabbed a hefty cash prize. Other than Tez, several pros also clinched winning titles.

Let’s take a quick look at the action that went down on virtual felts yesterday.

Iron Man – ₹8 Lakh GTD

Adda52’s marquee Iron Man tournament had 488 entries and the top 49 players were paid a min-cash of ₹4,885. This ₹2,000 buy-in tournament was shipped by Archit Khandelwal aka ‘rocketarchie’ who cashed ₹2,17,599 in prize money. Khandelwal was followed by runner-up ‘SONISONI1997’ who had a payday of ₹1,28,783.

The advertised guarantee of this tournament was ₹6 Lakh but it was surpassed by a thin margin and the final prize pool stood at ₹8,88,161.

The players who made it in the money in this Iron Man tournament were 2018 WPT Vietnam Main Event winner Dhaval Mudgal (3rd position, ₹88,816), Guruprasad Gupta (15th position, ₹8,882), Aditya Singh (16th position, ₹7,549), Aman Parakh (22nd position, ₹6,661), Sanat Mehrotra (24th position, ₹6,661), Pawan Tez (27th position, ₹5,773), Naresh Veeravalli (29th position, ₹5,773), Devrat Singh (48th position, ₹4,885) among others.

NPS #54 BIG KO – ₹20 Lakh GTD

The ongoing National Poker Series on PokerBaazi is a poker festival that welcomes you to the online poker felts with open arms. The #54 BIG KO tournament had 653 entries in total. The ₹6,050 buy-in tournament was shipped by Ritwik Khanna aka ‘Ritwikkhanna’ who had a payday of ₹4,82,000. The runner-up of this tournament is Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘d00mtr00p3r’ who took home ₹3,80,000.

This tournament was a star studded affair as several poker pros like Kunal Patni (17th position, ₹24,810), Kanchan Sharma (19th position, ₹21,680), Aditya Singh (28th position, ₹14,890), Sanat Mehtrota (33rd position, ₹114,890), Dhirendra Kumar (36th position, ₹14,890), Abhinav Iyer (65th position, ₹7,836), Kartik Ved (77th position, ₹6,530)  among others. 

The NPS has several high-value tournaments and this BIG KO was one among them. The ₹20 Lakh advertised guarantee was crushed but a new prize pool of ₹26,12,000 was formed. The top 81 players were paid a min-cash of ₹6,530.

NPS #56 HYPER SPRINT – ₹8 Lakh GTD

The NPS #56 HYPER SPRINT on PokerBaazi was an ₹8 Lakh guarantee tournament. The initial prize pool was crushed by a huge margin and the final prize pool stood at ₹12,68,000. There were 634 entries in total and the top 72 players were paid. The min-cash paid was ₹3,930.

This ₹2,200 buy-in tournament was a deal between anonymous player ‘daredevilcalls’ and poker pro Vishnu Khandelwal aka ‘violator.’ While the mystery player cashed ₹2,02,000 Khandelwal took home ₹2,06,000 in prize money. Other players who made it in the money were Aditya Singh (3rd position, ₹1,08,000), Devashish Jain (4th position, ₹80,010), Devang Yadav (5th position, ₹59,980), Raghavendra Ranjana (6th position, ₹48,060), Pratibh Saluja (68th position, ₹3,930), Kunal Patni (69th position, ₹3,930) and several others.

Recharge – ₹9 Lakh GTD

Arun Sriram aka ‘vazharmorghulis’ shipped the Recharge tournament on Spartan Poker and cashed ₹2,06,983. The runner-up was Ashish Pareek aka ‘UGOTBLUFF’ who added ₹1,31,475 to his bankroll. This ₹2,200 buy-in tournament had 531 entries in total. The top 47 players were paid and the min-cash was ₹6,053.

Following Pareek were Michael Keishing (3rd position, ₹98,553), Vikram Mishra (4th position, ₹79,756), Buhr Advirkar (5th position, ₹62,870), Suraj Arora (6th position, ₹48,002), Armaan Kochhar (7th position, ₹35,258) and Suraj Kapila (8th position, ₹25,912) were on the final table. 

The Recharge was a ₹9 Lakh guarantee tournament but it was surpassed and the final prize pool stood at ₹10,62,000. The bubble boy in this tourney was Yohan Patel aka ‘PAPITO’ who busted on the 48th position. Poker pros like Ashutosh Balodhi (49th position), Kunal Patni (50th position), Anirban Das (51st position) could not make it in the money.

The Big Deal – ₹30 Lakh GTD

Pawan Tez shipped the Big Deal tournament on Spartan Poker. Previously, he shipped Adda52’s Iron Man tournament on 27 April and 4 May. This ₹22,000 tournament is one of the highly anticipated tournaments and it was shipped by Pawan Tez aka ‘_luffy_1x1.’ Tez won a whopping ₹7,66,500 in prize money. This Monday tourney veteran was followed by WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid’ who laughed his way to the bank with ₹5,28,000.

Right after Ved was yet another WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer aka ‘hightr0ller’ who fired four bullets and could only clinch the second runner up position. 

The final table was filled with pros like Siddharth Singhvi (4th position, ₹2,80,500), Yohan Patel (5th position, ₹2,26,500), Devang Yadav (6th position, ₹1,77,000), Rajeev Kumar (8th position, ₹1,06,500) and January 2021 India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) Main Event winner, Laksh Pal Singh with three bullets (9th position, ₹78,000). 

Among the top 15 players were several other poker stars like NPS BIG KO winner Ritwik Khanna (10th position, ₹63,000), IOPC veteran Arjanveer Singh Chadha (11th position, ₹63,000), Armaan Kochhar with four bullets (12th position, ₹58,500), Annant Jain with 3 bullets (13th position, ₹58,500), Shardul Parthasarathi (14th position, ₹54,000), and IOPC Jan 2021 Millionaire United winner Siddharth Kripalani (15th position, ₹54,000).

The bubble boy in this tournament was Anirban Das aka ‘pokernoob’ who busted at the 16th position without making any money. The tournament had 140 entries in total and the top 15 players were paid. The min-cash paid was an impressive ₹54,000.
