Monday Round Up: Munot & Advani Took Home Loads Of Cash After Clinching Poker Titles


Spartan Poker, PokerBaazi, and Adda52 conducted high-value tournaments on Monday. Ashish Munot and Goonjan Mall had a tough battle while pros like Abhinav Iyer, Gokul Raj, Arsh Grover but could not make it in the money in the big deal tournament. Let’s do a recap of all the action that took place on virtual poker felts yesterday. 

Recharge – ₹9.50 Lakh

Recharge tournament on Spartan Poker had 569 entries in total and a mystery player ‘Grandmasterbob’ traversed to the top and won ₹1,84,125 in prize money. This player was followed by Akho John Richa aka ‘Serial Limper’ who cashed ₹1,78,555. 

The advertised guarantee of this ₹2,200 buy-in tournament was ₹9.50 Lakh but it was surpassed by a slim margin and a new prize pool of ₹11,38,000 was formed. The top 47 players were paid a min-cash of ₹6,486. 

While ‘Grandmasterbob’ clinched the winning title, there were several pros like Manoj Kumar (3rd position, ₹1,05,606), Priyank Kothari (5th position, ₹67,369), Arun Sriram (6th position, ₹51,437), Biplob Rana (9th position, ₹22,760), Vivek Dube (10th position, ₹19,118), Ankit Khattar (12th position, ₹16,842), Mohit Mehta (16th position, ₹13,428), Alok Birewar (15th position with two re-entries, ₹15,135), Shardul Parthasarathi (17th position with two re-entries, ₹13,428), Surbhit Grover (18th position, ₹11,712), Dhirendra Kumar (19th position, ₹11,721), Sahil Mahboobani (26th position, ₹9,445), Manish Lakhotia (10th position with two re-entries, ₹10,583) who were on the field.

Other pros like Guruprasad Gupta (61st position), Sanish Chhabra (62nd position), Tathagata Sengupta (51st position), Ashutosh Balodhi (48th position) could not make it in the money.

The Big Deal – ₹33 Lakh 

Spartan Poker’s Big Deal tournament was shipped by poker pro Ashish Munot aka ‘Donkey 07.’ Munot, the WPT India Main Event 2019 champion, claimed the winner’s title and prize money of ₹8,30,280. The runner-up in this tourney was none other than Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’ who took home ₹5,61,000. The tournament had 160 entries in total and the top 17 players were paid a min-cash of ₹51,810. 

The final table of this ₹22,000 buy-in tournament was filled with poker stalwarts like Yohan Patel (13th position) Dhruvin Kothari (4th position, ₹3,01,950), Anmol Mehta who mostly ships Thursday tournaments (8th position, ₹1,10,550) and IOPC January 2021 Main Event winner Laksh Pal Singh (9th position, ₹82,500), Meet Jariwala (14th position), Uttam Kumar (15th position) among others. Mehta had shipped the Monster stack tournament on Spartan Poker (3 June) and had received a pay cheque of ₹2,23,299. 

The Big Deal veteran Arsh Grover busted at the 33rd position and couldn’t finish in the money. Abhinav Iyer, won the Sunday Superstack yesterday but today he busted at 29th position. Other players in the tourney were Sumit Sapra (19th position), Ankit Wadhwan (25th position), Vivek Singh (104th position), Ashish Ahuja (112th position), Surbhit Grover (111th position), Vishal Bajaj (21st position), Yudhisther Jaswal (94th position), Nitin Arora (31st position), Anirban Das (34th position), India Online Poker Championship Mastermind and Millionaire Legends winner Aniket Waghmare (91st position), Gokul Raj (81st position), Kanchan Sharma (85th position), Sanish Chhabra (73rd position).

  • Buy-In: ₹22,000
  • Places paid: 17
  • Min-Cash: ₹51,810

Iron Man – ₹8 Lakh GTD

Adda52’s marquee tournament, Iron Man had 467 entries in total and the top 49 players were paid a min-cash of ₹4,675. This ₹2,000 buy-in tournament had an advertised guarantee of ₹8 Lakh but it was surpassed by a very thin margin and a new prize pool of ₹8,49,947 was formed. 

An anonymous player ‘dp178’ shipped the tournament and won ₹1,83,865 in prize money. This player was closely followed by Avinash Koneru aka ‘avinkon’ who cashed ₹1,47,611. Online reg, Manish Lakhotia, who is making headlines with his wins, played both Recharge and The Big Deal. But sadly had to settle for the 8th spot for ₹19,124.

Archit Saraogi (46th position, ₹4,625), Armaan Kochhar (40th position, ₹4,675), IOPC reg, Sanat Mehrotra (35th position, ₹4,675), Devrat Singh (32nd position, ₹5,525) Deekshith Kumar (4th position, ₹63,746), Ashwini Panwar (6th position, ₹29,748), Anirban Das (20th position, ₹6,375), Himanshu Kataria (25th position, ₹5,525), Vaibhav Roy (39th position, ₹4,675) made it in the money.

  • Places paid: 49
  • Min-Cash: ₹4,675

Megastack – ₹10 Lakh GTD

PokerBaazi welcomes all the players with a foot-tapping National Poker Series (NPS) anthem. The NPS fever is on but players are not stopping at just that. The Megastack tournament had an advertised guarantee of ₹10 Lakh but it was crushed and the final prize pool doubled to an impressive ₹21,50,000. Rugal Advani aka ‘Smikijoejr’ shipped this tournament and won ₹3,66,000. He was followed by Abhijeet Kumar aka ‘ERROR404’ who cashed ₹2,56,000. 

The second runner-up of this tournament was Akshay Dhingra, who received ₹1,66,000 in prize money. Do check it out! This tournament had 1,075 entries in total and the top 126 players were paid a min-cash of ₹3,225. 

Online regs Vinod Kirne (5th position, ₹91,590), Arjunn Agarwal (6th position, ₹74,180), Vikram Mishra (7th position, ₹61,490), Rubin Labroo (27th place, ₹13,120), Surbhit Grover (111th ₹3,225), Tanmaya Sahoo (110th, ₹3,225), Aman Parakh (65th position, ₹6,020), Siddhanth Kripalani (46th position, ₹8,170), Anirban Das (36th position, ₹18,000), and Mohit Mehta (23rd position, ₹15,050) finished in the money.
