Mario Ho on FT of WPT Seminole Showdown Championship


World Poker Tour (WPT), the popular worldwide live tour, conducted WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Florida. Among the events in the series was a marquee event, $3,500 WPT Championship took place and played till the Final Table of 6.

The championship ran for 4 days and drew in 1,360 entries in all. The last day saw the whittled down field of final 6 emerge, out of which Maria Ho was the headliner on the table, bagging 16,650,000 chips, 2nd in chip counts after USA’s James Carroll who finished at the top with a stack of 18,525,000.

The marquee Showdown event boasted a hefty guarantee of $3 million but this guarantee was crushed easily, bringing the prize pool to $4.3 million coming from its 2 starting flights. Meanwhile, another marquee event of the festival, $25k HR was topped by Aaron Mermelstein for $618,955 as first-place cash prize.

Coming to the showdown, the top 170 places were paid and among those who bagged a pay-check included the likes of Anthony ZinnoDarren Elias and Erik SeidelRichard Seymour, who is a former NFL star, made a deep run into the final day but was eliminated at 15th place by the hands of Canada’s Ami Alibay.

The bubble boy of the Final Table became Jason Marshman who had 12 BBs and shoved with Ah 8h. Ho called from the Big Blind with Qc Jd. The Jc 9d 8c flop paired both but Ho eliminated Marshman with the top pair, holding up throughout the turn and the river.

  3. Ami Alibay – 8,175,000
  4. Eric Afriat – 4,425,000
  5. Chad Eveslage – 3,350,000
  6. Jerry Wong – 3,225,000

The FT will play out on 30th May 2019 at Luxor HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas till the winner is declared. Everyone has at-least $148,380 locked-up, which is the 6th place pay-out. The player who wins though, will get an awesome $700,175 pay-check to his/her name as well as a $15k WPT Tournament of Champions ticket.
