Kartik Ved on EPT Sochi National Final Table

It’s been an incredible few days at Casino Sochi so far. The venue is currently host to the prestigious 2019 European Poker Tour (EPT) Sochi, Russia and already, our Indian contingent has made headlines. The opener RUB 77k EPT National event attracted a total of 721 entries from three starting flights, 16 more than last year’s.

Third time was the charm for Indian pros there as Aditya SushantJayjit Ray and Kartik Ved (pictured below in another event) progressed from Day 1C. Sushant fared well on the day and was among the top stacks, but fell down on Day 2 yesterday, where the field whittled down to the Final 8.

Kartik Ved showcased his poker prowess and has reached the Final Table bagging 1,385,000 chips (28 big blinds) at the end of yesterday. He is 7th in chip counts on the table and is still holding the Indian flag high. Leading in chip counts is Belarus’ Yury Masliankou (pictured below) with 5,260,000 chips (105 big blinds).

The run ended for Sushant on Day 3 itself, where he busted at 30th place for a cool cash prize of RUB 227,500 (~INR 2.43 Lakhs). Ray got railed earlier at 73rd place for RUB 135,100 (~INR 1.44 Lakhs). Ved has fared well on the day and will be looking to claim the first-place prize money which now comes to a staggering RUB 9,317,000 (~INR 99.76 Lakhs) and even if he falls short, he has secured at least RUB 1,295,000 (~INR 13.86 Lakhs) as the eighth-place pay-out.

Ved had won the qualifier on PokerStars India, where he won an all-expense paid trip to Sochi and what a mind-blowing run it has been. He converted the relatively miniscule qualifier buy-in to a Final Table pay-out in the series. He is a strong live player and will be looking to use his entire skill-set for the kill-shot and hopefully make his best live cash here.

Final Table Chip Counts –

  1. Yury Masliankou – 5,260,000
  2. Giorgiy Skhulukhiya – 4,145,000
