IOPC July 2020 ends on a high; 32+ CR given away


The richest and grandest cash festival in online poker in the country has clearly lived up to the name once again. Spartan Poker hosts India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) twice a year and the latest edition recently came to an end on 26 July, with hundreds of players being crowned as winners across the various tournament offerings.

The IOPC July 2020 assured a series guarantee of INR 25 Crore prize pool and there was no doubt about whether this amount was going to be passed or not. In fact, it was crushed to become a whopping INR 32+ Crore in prizes across the 2 weeks of action on the virtual felts, an amount never seen before, making it the largest online series in Indian poker history!

Poker as a sport is thriving in India and the numbers seen in the recent IOPC series is evidence to that statement. The marvellous festival caught attention of a massive 85,000+ entries and quite a few of them walked home with prizes worth a Lakh and even more! Take a look at the stats for the entire IOPC series:

  • Total no. of unique players – 3,638
  • Total no. of players in the money – 7,839
  • Total no. of players won 1,00,000 – 9,99,999 – 343

Beating its own record set in January when Spartan Poker held an INR 16+ Crore GTD. The 2020 July IOPC has been bigger and better in every sense of the word where an array of players showcased their skills and got the ultimate shot at glory!

Biggest Winners from IOPC July 2020

IOPC Main Event – The Crown INR 3 Crore GTD – Harshit Sanghi

The jaw-dropping Main Event – The Crown was the main highlight promising a hefty INR 3 Crore GTD that turned out to be the biggest ever single tournament on Spartan Poker, giving away INR 4.08 Crore in prize money! It was Harshit Sanghi aka ‘HeroCaller’ who who outlasted Kunal Bhatia heads-up, along with 4000+ entries, clinching to INR 47+ Lakhs in top prize. After his outstanding performance, Sanghi expressed, “I lost it! I literally lost it! Couldn’t believe that it actually happened, I called up a friend of mine, woke him up in wee hours asking him to confirm again if it was real! I am overwhelmed.”

IOPC Leaderboard INR 1 Crore GTD – Bhanu Prakash

The 2020 July IOPC impressed the entire country and in all of this, let’s not forget about the whopping INR 1 Crore Leaderboard, which gave away a life-changing INR 50 Lakh to the winner, Bhanu Prakash aka ‘spectre’ who collected 16,296 points. The champion told Gutshot, “It has been a crazy grind throughout the 18 days of the series, play, sleep, repeat was the routine. Pulling it off, day in and day out was not an easy feat. This would be my best online performance in terms of persistence and grit.”

IOPC #25 The Millionaire United INR 1.5 Crore GTD – Manish Lakhotia

Poker pro Manish Lakhotia aka ‘thekid’ outlasted a monstrous field of 2,155 entries and took home INR 15 Lakhs after a three-way deal that saw ‘bluffpolice123’ in the second place. The event collected a prize pool of INR 1,50,85,000 which was assured to the top 255 players.

IOPC #54 High Roller INR 1 Crore GTD – Raghav Bansal

Sitting 4th in India’s all-time money list, Raghav Bansal aka ‘thatssosick’ took down the INR 55,000 buy-in IOPC #54 High Roller. Bansal powered through 223 entries and took home INR 24+ Lakhs after eliminating Pranav Bagai aka ‘Boller’ in heads-up.

IOPC #99 Super High Roller INR 1 Crore GTD – Anuj Yadav

The IOPC Super High Roller was crushed after collecting INR 1.49 Crore in prize pool from 149 strong field. The biggest buy-in event of the crowned Anuj Yadav aka ‘tittooTauji’ knocked out Siddarth Singhvi aka ‘PeterPunter’ in heads-up to secure INR 35+ Lakhs in first prize.

IOPC #75 The Millionaire Legends INR 1.5 Crore GTD – Sriharsha Doddapaneni

The event garnered a field of 819 entries smashing the advertised guarantee to create INR 2.04 Crores in prize pool. Topping the field Sriharsha Doddapaneni aka ‘Potato Player’ who outlasted ‘Queenhigh’ in heads-up, adding a valuable title and building his bankroll.

IOPC #112 PLO High Roller INR 45 Lakhs GTD – Anant Purohit

On 26th July, Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ claimed INR 11+ Lakhs in first-place cash prize after triumphing IOPC PLO High Roller INR 45 Lakhs GTD. Purohit championed the 223 entry-field after a heads-up deal with ‘Queenhigh’.
