IOPC Day 14: Dhruvin Kothari grabs his second IOPC title!

The competition is heating up on Spartan Poker as we inch closer towards the end of the biggest online poker series in the country, the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC). The series boasts a series guarantee of more than 16 Crores, never seen before on Indian online poker platforms and even outdoing several top European online poker rooms as well. Yesterday saw the end of Day 14 with the IOPC Super HighRoller being the second biggest guarantee event promising INR 1 Crore GTD! However, the major attraction still remains The Millionaire Main Event which concluded fourth of its eight starting flights. And here is a complete summary of IOPC Day 14…

IOPC Event #75 INR 2 Lakhs GTD

The first tournament of the day commenced with INR 550 buy-in leading to a healthy participation of 514 entries that drove the guarantee to become INR 2.57 Lakhs in the eventual prize pool. The biggest prize money went to Ravi Jain aka ‘Rvjn91’ who conquered the field and beat Abhishek Jaiswal aka ‘allout1’ in heads-up with his pair of Queens over Jaiswal’s high card King to bag his third IOPC title in the ongoing series after already taking down IOPC Event #42 and Event #52 Daily Hi-Fi.

IOPC Event #76 Afternoon Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakhs GTD

You had to pony up INR 1,100 buy-in to enter the Afternoon Hi-Fi which assured an INR 4 Lakhs GTD prize pool. The second tournament saw a total of 433 runners out of which the top 31 earned a portion from the final prize pool of INR 4.33 Lakhs. Topping the list was online reg ‘PokerBadger’ who defeated Sathish Ananth aka ‘Jaqkten’ in heads-up.

In level #36 of the tournament, ‘PokerBadger’ (K♠ Q♥) was ahead in chips against Ananth (4♥ A♥). Pre-flop action saw the latter putting his entire stack in the middle and a call from the former. The board eventually opened T♣ J♣ J♠ K♦ A♠ and ‘PokerBadger’ knocked out Ananth with a rivered straight over his opponent’s two pairs of Aces and Jacks.

IOPC Event #77 The Millionaire Main Event (Day 1D)

Spartan Poker’s main attraction, the multi-flight Millionaire Main Event INR 3 Crore GTD saw a registration of 368 contenders on Day 1D. At 10:14 pm, we had another day-end chip leader ‘Trapdoor’ who amassed the largest stack of 2.52 million. The chip leader was followed by Manoj Pentakota bagging INR 2.42 million. Playing under the username ‘MRBLUE’, Pentakota was the first Millionaire ever on Spartan and has had a great time at the virtual felts so far having grabbed his first IOPC title winning Event #40 Highroller in the ongoing series.

IOPC Event #78 Ultron INR 25 Lakhs GTD

This Thursday evening feature on Spartan Poker saw 767 runners with each one enrolling themselves for INR 4,400 buy-in, enough to smash (INR 30.68 Lakhs) the GTD amount. Grabbing his first IOPC title was Vaibhav Ghadage aka ‘KingJazz’ who topped the list after the players settled for a heads-up deal that saw Shardul Parthasarathi aka ‘F – Bomb’ in the runner-up position. Once again, last week’s Millionaire Legends winnerDhruvin Kothari aka ‘thepokerplayer’ rode past the field to grab another valuable title after the players settled for a 3-way deal. Eventually, it was ‘lol this guy’ who took second position and ‘Yennefer’ in the third place.

IOPC Event #80 Daily Hi-Fi INR 10 Lakhs GTD

Each IOPC day ends with Daily Hi-Fi being the last tournament and yesterday saw Anuj Laddhad, the last man standing after conquering a field of 560 runners looking to grab the final title of the day. Out of the massive field, only 54 finishers earned a portion from the prize pool of INR 11.20 Lakhs and it was Laddhad aka ‘Anuj16101’ who would go on to seize the lion’s share of the same. The champion knocked out Anurag Srivastava aka ‘Norman Bates’ in heads-up.

In level 47 of the tournament, Laddhad with T♣ 9♠ up against Srivastava with K♥ 3♥. Pre-flop saw the stack of both players go into the middle of the table and the board ran 9♦ A♠ 4♣ 3♣ 7♥. Those community cards meant that Srivastava failed to dominate Laddhad’s pair of Nines with his pair of Threes, thus, ending IOPC Day 14.
