Goonjan Mall beats Neel Joshi to bag Sunday Stacks title

A typical Sunday always attracts large turnouts to all the major offerings in India’s online poker world. 9stacks (use sign-up code “GUTSHOT“), one of the newest and budding platforms in the country, hosted Sunday Stacks INR 15 Lakhs GTD last night.

The tournament attracted some of the cream of the crop to the virtual felts. In all, it drew a total of 245 entries (including 59 re-entries) for a buy-in of INR 5,500. Beginning at 8 pm on 9stacks, the tournament saw its final hand in the books by 3.03 am in the morning.

Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’ earned the top spot yesterday, earning INR 3,06,000 in first-place cash prize and beat Neel Joshi aka ‘Worm33’ in heads-up to secure his title. Joshi eventually settled for INR 1,95,000 as the runner-up cash prize.

Mall is a reputed online grinder and is a popular community person, having been involved in poker streaming and other such ancillary activities apart from playing poker. His online record is a good one, featuring plenty of title wins and deep runs. He beat Joshi, who is also a good online regular and that for Mall must’ve felt satisfying enough.

This being the biggest weekly offering on 9stacks, it saw some of the big pros of the country participating. Finishing 5^th was 9stacks regular Bhavye Mittal aka ‘noobpro’, who fired 4 bullets to secure INR 75,000.

Other knowns to rank in the top 40 places with the minimum pay-out being INR 12,750 include Shravan Chhabria aka ‘Kissmyace’ (7^th – INR 51,000), Rubin Labroo aka ‘kornkid’ (10^th – INR 33,000), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘ImHighIshove’ (13^th – INR 18,000), Sajjan Barnwal aka ‘SAJJAN0007’ (16^th – INR 16,500), Chirag Sodha aka ‘chilling’ (25^th – INR 15,000), Sumit Sapra aka ‘mrgr33n’ (29^th – INR13,500), Sanjay Taneja aka ‘WereWolf’ (32^nd – INR 13,500), Laksh Pal Singh aka ‘BoomTilt23’ (35^th – INR 12,750), and others.
