France’s Pierre Calamusa leads PCA $10,300 ME Day 2

After Day 1A and 1B of the PCA $10,300 Main Event which drew 865 entries in total including 242 re-entries, creating a prize pool of $8,390,500, Day 2 is also in the books now. The leader to emerge from the day and who will enter Day 3 as leader France’s Pierre Calamusa.

The Frenchman is in the top spot with 1,500,000 chips. 2nd in chips is Spain’s Vicent Bosca with a stack of 1,138,000, a huge way behind indeed, increasing Calamusa’s chances of shipping the event altogether.

Calamusa has amassed almost $1 million in live cashes till now and will winning this event will more than double his earnings adding $1,567,500 as 1st place cash prize. The Frenchman made his biggest score of $266,560 at the 2016 Main Event for 5th place.

The day was a roller coaster ride for Calamusa. At one point, he dropped as low as 50,000 chips before going on an knockout spree on the table. Along the way, he sent Niall FarrellBruno Lopes ad Sam Greenwood to the rail. Greenwood re-entered the race and will be back for Day 3.

I floated the flop and made top pair on the turn, and on the river he made a huge overbet. I didn’t block any of his draws, and figured out he might be having a lot of bluffs. I made the hero call and it is always good to hear “you got it.” Calamusa reacted in an on-site interview later.

Calamusa will return today in Day 3 with astonishing 250 big blinds. He and Bosca are the only ones who will enter the day with over a million chips. Other big stacks include Matthias Eibinger (894,000 chips), Brian Altman (746,000 chips) and Joao Simao (734,000 chips).

PSPC winner Ramon Colillas bust before the money was reached. Other notables to bust without receiving a pay-out were 2015 WSOP ME winner Joe McKeehenSteve O’DwyerRainer Kempe and defending champion Maria Lampropulos.

The 79 remaining players will return at 12 pm local time for some poker action with blinds at 3K/6K/6K (big blind ante). Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for PCA ME updates as well as other poker news from around the world.
