Bryn Kenney wins EPT Monte Carlo €10K High Roller

For most people, beating many other players and winning a poker title is quite a big deal, but for poker players like Bryn Kenney, it’s just another day at the office. Hendon Mob’s 2017 Player of the Year Bryn Kenney has over $23 million in live poker earnings and he just added another title to his name yesterday.

The EPT Monte Carlo began on 24th April and yesterday was the last day of the tournament series. Kenney outlasted 50 entries in the €10,200 High Roller Event, to take home the title and a prize of €153,000 ($183,600) for first place. This became his third European Poker Tour title, after victories in Prague (2011) and Barcelona (2012).

This High Roller tournament was one of the last to finish at the EPT Monte Carlo, with Frenchman Nicolas Dumont winning the Main Event yesterday. Kenney was up against a field of experienced poker players, including the likes of Mustapha Kanit, Erik Seidel and Nick Petrangelo on the final table.

He held the chip lead since the time action was down to the last two tables, all the way through to winning the title. He finally got to the heads-up battle against Italy’s best, Mustapha Kanit. Finally, both players went all in with Kanit holding A-3 and Kenney holding K-Q. A queen opened on flop which was enough to win Kenney the pot and win the title as well.

He also cashed out in previous tournaments at the EPT Monte Carlo, finishing 5th in a €25k NLHE event and then finishing 13th in the €25k High Roller, so this would’ve been a pretty good trip for the American poker pro. The win took his career earnings past $23.5 million!

Final results:

  1. Bryn Kenney – €153,000 (~INR 1.22 crore)
  2. Mustapha Kanit – €110,000
  3. Erik Seidel – €70,300
  4. Nick Petrangelo – €53,500
  5. Vladimir Troyanovskiy – €41,200
  6. Ramin Hajiyev – €31,500
  7. Thomas Muehloecker – €25,500
