Ayush Garg takes down Head-Hunter in SSS Day 4 on Spartan


Yesterday marked the fourth day of the high-stakes online series, Spartan Super Series (SSS) hosted on Spartan Poker. A total of six tournaments were lined up, each crowning their worthy winners with enormous sums of prize money. And here is the complete summary of SSS Day 4

SSS Event #19 INR 65k GTD

The first tournament of the day saw a total of 498 players signing up, all chipping in the INR 165 buy-in amount. The guaranteed amount surpassed to create a prize pool of INR 74,700 which was shared among the top 31 places being paid with a minimum amount of INR 657. Topping this massive field was Vivek Karwa aka ‘acchemicals’ taking away INR 11,391 as first-place prize money. A total of 5 players entered the final hand and created a deal, with Karwa carrying the biggest stack won the title of the night defeating ‘Freeflop717’ who settled for runner-up position bagging INR10,624.

Gutshot Magazine got in touch with Karwa who added, “I had attended a poker boot camp coached by Tanay Hargunaney and Abhishek Goindi which has improved my skills to excel in tournaments.”

SSS Event #20 Afternoon Showdown INR 4 Lakhs GTD

The buy-in for the second tournament, Afternoon Showdown rose to INR 2,200. The event registered 185 poker players and once again, the prize pool was drawn to be shared with top 17 witnessing a paycheck of min-cash INR 6,280. It was Anuj Laddhad aka ‘Anuj16101’ emerging as the winner of the night after defeating ‘varonir’ in heads-up.

In Level #34, blinds at 5,000/10,000 ante 1,250, Laddhad (Jh 2h) with 854k chips playing against ‘varonir’ (3h Ts) with 533k. Jc 9s 5h flop, the latter bets 31k and the former calls. 4c 7h on turn and river wasn’t helpful enough for the runner-up, ‘varonir’, defeated with a pair of Jacks. Laddhad shipped the tournament and added another title to his poker career.

SSS Event #21 Afternoon Hi-Fi INR 3 Lakhs GTD

The third tournament of Day 4 saw a buy-in of INR 1,100 registering 316 players. The guarantee slightly surpassed to create a new prize pool of INR 3.16 Lakhs to be shared among the top 24 places, each receiving a min-cash of INR 3,160. It was Dilmeet Munjal aka ‘dilmeet’ who bagged the title along with the first-place prize money after defeating yesterday’s Event #15 champion Arjanveer Singh Chadha aka ‘bazzingaa’ in heads-up. In the final hand of the tournament, Munjal shoved his pair of Aces against Chadha’s high card Ace.

SSS Event #22 INR 2.5 Lakhs GTD

239 players registered in the tournament, each chipping in INR 1,100 buy-in. The guarantee slightly surpassed to draw a prize pool of INR 2.39 Lakhs which was shared among the top 20 places. ‘Malicious’ powered through this field to claim the title and the top prize after defeating ‘Mr.India’ in heads-up who rested in the second place.

SSS Event #23 Head-Hunter INR 12 Lakhs GTD

Each player was aiming for the massive guaranteed amount. Being a featured tournament, Head-Hunter is scheduled to take place every Thursday. The prize pool was shared among the top 31 players receiving a minimum amount of INR 10,736. A well-known poker player, Ayush Garg aka ‘Lazyman’ triumphed the event bagging the enormous prize money after defeating ‘S1ckB3at’ in heads-up with pair of Jack and Ace kicker while the latter settled for second place for his single pair JJ.

Garg is recorded to have finished 2nd in the India Poker Championship Main Event, earning his career-best live cash of $53,353 followed by the runner-up title 2019 WPT India 20k Kickoff in October.

SSS Event #24 High Roller 50 Lakhs GTD

The runner-up of Event #16 in SSS‘moZart’ shipped the biggest tournament of last night. With a buy-in of INR 27,500, a total number of 228 players entered. The guaranteed amount was smashed, and a prize pool of INR 57 Lakhs was created to be shared among the top 27 places for a minimum amount of INR 57,000.

In Level #48 with blinds at 50,000/100,000 ante 10,000, in the final hand, ‘moZart’ (4s As) with 9.5 million chips against his opponent ‘wengerunclegend’ (Jd Qd) with 1.8 million chips. With the latter raising and putting his entire stack in the middle, got a call from former. The board opens 6c 2s 3s 4c 4h, with ‘moZart’ holding trip 4, championed the event sending his opponent in the second position for his pair of 4.

SSS Event #25 Hi-Fi INR 8 Lakhs GTD

A well-recognized player in virtual felts, Rajat Sharma aka ‘Garammasala’ defeated ‘Chimoku’ in the heads-up and grabbed the last tournament title of SSS Day 4 being Hi-Fi. A total number of 447 players entered the tournament for a buy-in of INR 1,650. The prize pool was later shared among the top 36 places receiving a min-cash of INR 5,200. In Level #44 with blinds at 21,000/42,000 ante 5,250. 3 players enter the final hand of the tournament, with Sharma carrying the largest stack and becoming the player of the night after a 3-way deal.
