APT Vietnam: Han leads after Day 2 of ME; 2 Indians progress

204 players returned to the felts to play Day 2 of the VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh yesterday. It’s the Asian Poker Tour’s (APT) second stop at Vietnam for the year and the Main Event field is slowly narrowing down as other side events take place simultaneously.

By the end of the second official day of play at the Main Event, we had only 63 players who caught a bag to Day 3, while the Indian field of 6 players also reduced to just the final 2. Manoj Pentakota ended the day as the fourth highest stack, with 413,000 chips in play. Along with him is Rubin Labroo, who managed to chip up to 203,500 by the end of the day.

Malaysia’s Lee Boon Han has bagged the chip lead with 431k chips and Pentakota isn’t too far behind the leader. Registration shut an hour after play started yesterday and the prizes were calculated to announce that only 46 players of the original field of 458 entries will finish in the money.

Considering current chip stacks, we expect both our Indian pros to finish in the money, but we know that they will be aiming for much higher today on Day 3. Remember, when these players return to the tables today, they will all be playing for that top prize of VND 1,892,170,000 (~INR 55.71 Lakh).

Day 2 top 10 chip counts:

  1. Lee Boon Han – 431,000
  2. Low Zi Cheng – 427,500
  3. Tso Wei – 424,000
  4. Manoj Pentakota – 413,000
  5. Le Long Stephane – 408,500
  6. Zhou Jiu Ping – 364,000
  7. Jeong Bong Kil – 353,000
  8. Guan Tian Liang – 351,500
  9. Kajornnut Prirungreung – 307,500
  10. Hwang Seong Il – 305,000
