APT Vietnam Championships Event: 2 Indians progress to Day 2

The casino floor of Pro Poker Club has been tempting major Asian players to compete in the on-going Asian Poker Tour (APT) Kickoff Event. For the past few years now, Vietnam has become a hotbed for prestigious tournament series and it was yesterday that the second featured tournament, VND 38,50,000 Championships Event kicked off featuring VND 6 billion, running simultaneously with the Main Event which was reaching its conclusion.

The 5-day long marathon kicked off yesterday hosting Day 1A and pulling out 76 runners for a buy-in of VND 38,50,000. The grinding continued with only 37 survivors leading to Day 2. At the end of the day, it was Japan’s Seitaro Aso building up a towering stack of 319,600. Closely following the chip leader’s tail was native player Terry Nguyen bagging 309,200 chips and China’s Zhewen Hu accumulating 248,300 chips, rounding up the top 3.

Vietnam has been one of the favoured destinations, especially for the Indian players who keep swinging to and fro. Countrymates Meherzad Munsaf and Dhaval Mudgal, who were seen in the Main Event have progressed to Day 2 of the Championships Event bagging 99,700 and 24,000 chips, respectively.

With total live earnings of over $62k, Aso won the 2017 APT Macau Deep Stack Turbo. He was last seen finishing 10th in 2018 APT Finale Philippines Manila High Roller and is now running to grab the title after 2 years away from the live felts. Other notable players through to the next stage were 2019 APT Philippines Manila Championships Event winner Iori Yogo, the 2019 APT Vietnam Monster Stack champion Christopher Mateo, 2018 APT Philippines Main Event winner Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, the 2019 APT High Rollers winner Soo Jo Kim and so on.
