APT Taiwan Day 1 concludes; 2 events started


The opening day of the 3rd Asian Poker Tour (APT) series of 2019, APT Taiwan, hosted two events and both attracted a decent crowd at the Chinese Texas Holdem Poker Association (CTP Club), Taipei, Taiwan. One of the events hosted was a fresh one called TWD 8.8k Dream Maker 5% Payout, which is seen for the first time in APT’s history.

Dream Maker Day 1

The event, a brainchild of CTP Club President Hsing Tai, attracted a total of 118 entrants in the field. Only 8 players advanced to the final day however and all are eyeing for the 1st place cash prize out of the created prize pool of TWD 915,700 (~INR 21.12 Lakhs). The champion will emerge today itself, and only top 6 players will be paid out in the event. Dream Maker will resume at 1 pm local time.

Leading in chip counts is Brazil’s Patrick Liang with 261k chips and trailing behind him with 220k chips is Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa who recently won the 2018 APT Vietnam Main Event last October.

Chip leader Liang is a decent player with around $107k in live cashes till now. He has mostly cashed in Taiwanese tournaments starting from June 2018 in AJPC Asian Circuit High Roller. He was also running in the coveted PSPC hosted by PokerStars this January in Bahamas and even cashed at 45th for $69.1k.

  2. Tetsuya Tsuchikawa – 220,000
  3. Tseng Chun-Hsiung – 190,000
  4. Christian Cheng – 150,000
  5. Hsu Lita – 109,000
  6. Chee Karwee – 86,000
  7. Joe – 80,000
  8. Cheung Chung Ching – 71,000

Super High Rollers Day 1

This event attracted 19 players consisting of high-stakes grinders and well-known players like Thai pro Phachara WongwichitMarvin RettenmaierAdrian AttenboroughGuo Dong, etc. The Final Table of 8 although did not include the above names. Local pro Nai Yuan Hu is leading in chip counts with 1,295,000 chips bagged at the end of the day. The FT includes mostly regional players except for two, Hungary’s Gergley Kulcsar (1,733,000 chips) and UK’s Jack Salter (228k chips).

The event had a buy-in of TWD 215k (~INR 4.96 Lakhs) and that itself ensured the top brass of high-stakes grinders making the field. Only 4 places will be paid on Day 2, today, and the prizes will be given from the TWD 3,686,000 prize pool ultimately created. The FT of SHR will also be live streamed on CTP Club’s Facebook page with a 30-minute delay.

  3. Winfred Yu – 1,295,000
  4. Sparrow Cheung – 944,000
  5. Daniel Tang – 545,000

  7. Raymund Wu – 523,000
  8. Jack Salter – 228,000

Day 2 of the APT Taiwan includes the conclusion of the above 2 events plus the inauguration of the Main Event with Day 1A, Kitty Kuo Special Event and Head Hunter Bounty event.
