APL Kunming Main Event crosses 1,000 entries


Asia Poker League (APL) hosted APL Road Series and it recently started on a bustling note at Kunming in Yunnan Province, China. The series began on 8th March and will go into the books on 18th March 2019 at the Wilo Intelligent Transportation Hall. The highlight of the series, CNY 5,500 Main Event, is running since 10th March and currently Day 2 is being played out.

The Main Event attracted a huge playing field of a record-breaking 1,043 entries from all four starting flights. Day 1A attracted 182, 1B attracted 150, 1C 296 and the last flight Day 1D drew 415 entries. The field chipped in the buy-in which resulted in an enormous prize pool of CNY 5,058,550 (~INR 5.21 Crores).

Day 2 is currently underway with 266 players in contention however there’s still a long way to go for the money to start flowing, starting at 113th position. The field was dominated by Chinese players which came as no surprise. Some of the notables running in the tournament are all four chip leaders from the starting flights, Yang PengYong XuYuan Ye and Wang Hai Zhou.

Apart from the Main Event, some side-events also declared their winners in the APL Road Series Kunming. Here is a quick round up of those:

Deep Stack Turbo event

This event gathered a large field of 112 entries and created a prize pool of CNY 217,280. The players who received a pay-out were all of Chinese origin. Xing Long Huang topped this list and emerged victorious in the tournament. He took home CNY 59,980 (~INR 6.17 Lakhs) as first-place cash prize.

Pot Limit Omaha event

This event attracted 80 players to the felt and created a prize pool of CNY 155,200. 10 local Chinese players shared this prize pool with Jian Tang. Tang grabbed the highest pay-check of CNY 42,500 (~INR 4.37 Lakhs) as first-place cash prize.

Hyper Turbo 2 event

122 entries were made in this event and again a Chinese pro Le Song Tang shipped the event for CNY 47,610 (~INR 4.9 Lakhs) beating Ye Chou in heads-up. The event saw a prize pool of CNY 177,510.
