Anthony Zinno leads Day 5 of the WSOPE Main Event

The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) is all geared up to present the 14th bracelet to its worthy winner. Yesterday concluded Day 5 of €10,350 Main Event NLHE of the mini World Series at King’s Casino, Rozvadov. Undeniably, the action was pretty face-paced the previous night whittling down the field leaving small chunk hopefuls.

With total live earnings of over $9.12 million, United States’ Anthony Zinno claimed the day after amassing the largest stack of 16,845,000 and is now racing to grab his 3rd bracelet. He started the day third in the chip lead closely following Day 4 chip leader Dario Sammartino who is still competing in the 4th position.

Day 5 resumed with 14 players returning to the table, not even four full levels were needed before the field narrowed down to the last 6 players. Zinno took over the lead eliminating Day 3 chip leader Julien Martini (7th place, €132,017). Fate was not in favour of other players including bracelet winner Jan-Peter Jachtmann (11th, €59,759), 2-time bracelet winner David “OBD” Baker (€59,759) and others who ended their journey last night.

After the end of the day, the chip leader added, “My final day was a blast, a real blast. I started the day feeling optimistic about the outcome, this is how I play every tournament, always focused on winning. I lost a preflop all-in during the final table with ace-jack versus ace-queen, but I tried to remain calm. I realized that I still have a big stack and there is no reason to be disappointed.” Zinno is followed by Alexandros Kolonias bagging 12,150,000 chips and Anh Do with 8,725,000 in the third place.

Day 5 chip counts:

  1. Anthony Zinno – 16,845,000
  2. Alexandros Kolonias – 12,150,000
  3. Anh Do – 8,725,000
  4. Dario Sammartino – 7,100,000
  5. Claas Segebrecht – 6,400,000
  6. Rifat Palevic – 2,915,000

The final day kicks off today (31 October) at 12 noon local time to crown its ultimate winner. So, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for all latest updates on poker tournaments around the world.
