4th May 2018 marked the last day of live poker action from the EPT Monte Carlo tournament series. Along with French player Nicolas Dumont winning the Main Event and USA’s Bryn Kenney winning the €10k HR, the result of the €25k High Roller was also pending, which was ultimately won by Lebanon’s Albert Daher.
The win marked back to back titles for the poker player, after he also won the €1,100 Freezeout Event at the same series, a few days earlier. He won the freezeout event for €26,700 but the High Roller win turned out to be much bigger, as he took home a career best live cash of €595,386 ($714,463) and took his career earnings to $3 million.
The High Roller saw a total field of 91 entries which included some of the best poker pros in the world, including Kenney (13th) and England’s Stephen Chidwick (15th). Totally, 17 players were paid out in this event, with a minimum cash prize of €44,400 and it was interesting to see that every player from the Final Table was from a different country.
“The Hyper-Turbo wasn’t that huge of a tournament, but a win is a win. You always feel satisfied even if you win a small one because of the feeling of beating a field of over 100 people; maybe it’s not big money but it gives you a boost of confidence in your game,” said the Lebanese player after this win. The pay-out was decided based on a three-way ICM deal between the players.
