Abhishek Garg bags Wednesday Stacks title

One of the budding poker platforms making headway very quickly in the online poker scene in India is undoubtedly 9stacks. They come up with various exciting tournaments and series on their site all around the year, which have become quite popular among the poker masses of the country. They also recently announced the Prime Time Leaderboard Challenge, which will rank players who play their Prime Time @ 8 tournaments.

Last night’s Wednesday Stacks 5 Lakhs GTD attracted 133 entries (52 re-buys) for a buy-in of INR 3,300 each. The 9stacks tournament began at 8 pm and ended at 2:14 am today morning. The winner to emerge from the grind of over 6 hours was the well-known player Abhishek Garg aka ‘TheGrinder’ who bagged the INR 1,35,000 amount as 1st place cash prize. The heads-up opponent facing Garg was another known player Bhavye Mittal aka ‘noobpro’ who had to settle for INR 95,000 as runner-up prize.

Garg came to win this from another significant win at Spartan, their Saturday’s DareDevil for upwards of 1.7 Lakhs after a heads-up deal. Garg has major accomplishments to his name online but he has also played a couple of recorded live events in Goa and cashed out at 6th place in the 2018 WPT India Kick-Off held recently. He is obviously very elated with this win on 9stacks and his previous win on Spartan and will be looking forward to a very exciting 2019, which has a lot in store for poker aficionados across the country.

Gutshot got in touch with Garg after his win and he had this to say, “My tournament experience was very good, which had great structure.” He further talked about the gameplay, saying “The 3-handed play lasted quite long and heads-up against noobpro was very tough. I started with 3:1 chip advantage and noobpro played very fine and had 4:1 chip advantage at one point further into the game. I then started playing very aggressively and when our chips were almost equal, I won a crucial flip and shipped the tourney in a couple of hands.

The top 15 paid places also saw a few known names who finished in the money. Shravan Chhabria aka ‘Kissmyace’ came 3rd yesterday for INR 70K. Others regs include Akshay Pathak aka ‘Once’ (4th – INR 50K), Anirban Das aka ‘Pokernoob’ (12th – INR 7.5K), Chandni Malik aka ‘maidumji’ (14th – INR 7K) whom we had an interview with recently and Sam Anand aka ‘Lokimon‘ (15th – INR 7K).
