23 progress to APL Vietnam Main Event Day 3; no Indians

Yesterday was Day 2 of the Asia Poker League (APL) Vietnam Main Event taking place at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Originally, the day began with 150 players who survived through the four starting flights including three Indian players in Abhinav Iyer, Sumit Sapra and Sahil Agarwal.

Only 78 players from the field were to receive cash prizes and halfway through the field, the bubble burst and the short stacked Iyer and Sapra were out of contention without getting paid. However, Sahil Agarwal ended Day 1D as one of the chip leaders and he had better chances to run deep in this VND 16.5 million buy-in Main Event.

A total of 623 entries registered to the tournament and by the end of Day 2, just 23 survived, with no Indians left in the field. Sahil Agarwal was the last man standing from our country, busting in 45th place. Agarwal shoved on the flop with top pair and Singapore pro Norbert Koh called with a flush draw. Agarwal was ahead till the turn, but Koh completed a flush on the river. Agarwal banked VND 40,340,000 (~INR 1.21 Lakh) for finishing 45th.

China’s Te Mai with a stack of 1,870,000 chips is the leader among these final 23 players at the end of 10 levels played yesterday. The blinds will resume at 15k-30k today on Day 3, with a BB ante of 30k as well. Also, the average stack is 809,130, with Norbert Koh slightly below average at the moment (645k). They will all be playing for the top prize of VND 1,700,440,000 (~INR 51.12 Lakh).
