Why Poker Night Still Stands Out In A Sea Of Video Games?

While the game of poker is enjoyable, it is always fun to explore different ways of playing it. The video game format is one method that is sure to give players an entertaining and fun time. Over the years there have been multiple companies that have tried their hands at creating viable video games based on poker. Out of this, many poker video games have come and gone, some of whom have continued to remain popular. ‘Poker Night At The Inventory’ is one game that we’ll be looking at.

What is the video game about?

Released in 2010 by Telltale Games, ‘Poker Night At The Inventory’ is a fun ride into the world of poker with some amusing characters. The plot of the game revolves around a secret club called ‘The Inventory.’ First established in 1919, the club exists just in case the governing body outlaw games like poker. As a newcomer to the club, the player sits for a friendly game of Texas Hold’em poker with a group of four characters: Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, Max of Sam & Max, the Heavy from Team Fortress 2, and Tycho from Penny Arcade. All of these are characters from other games and shows produced by Telltale Games.

Gameplay of Poker Night

While Poker Night At The Inventory only allows the No-Limit Texas Hold’em variant of poker, it is made interesting by the funny characters it encompasses. Every player on the table starts with a buy-in of $10,000 and is meant to play the game until they run out of money. The goal of the player is to be the last man standing on the table. If the character runs out of money, he/she will then start offering some of their possessions to keep the game going. The game keeps a track of the player’s statistics and after playing several more games, they can unlock different artworks or even get more options to customize the game.

The game is an enjoyable experience and was an instant success upon its debut. A sequel called ‘Poker Night 2’ was subsequently released in 2013. Witty writing and intriguing gameplay were what drew users to this poker video game. Give this game a try if you’re looking for an entertaining night of poker in the company of some animated figures.
