California Games is a set of Asian games, some of which resemble games of poker. In this particular game, players place their bets even before receiving the hole cards. After receiving hole cards, players place their bets. After this point, the game starts to resemble blackjack. In this particular game, the interest is taken in the form of a potion of every bet. Such card rooms also known as California games were the result of state laws and regulations imposed in the United States. This was predominantly popular in California during the 1990s.

The California games include several traditional poker variants such as Texas Hold’em, Seven-card stud, Omaha Hold ’em, and other games such as Pai Gow poker, Super Nine California Blackjack, California Aces, and 13 Card. In the US, California has the second most clubs. As of October 2010, 66 card rooms are operating in the state. The clubs range in size from one table to nearly 300 tables, offering several games that are played all over the world.
Some of these California card rooms are small modest establishments, while others are large poker rooms that are as big as the ones in Las Vegas. According to Card Player magazine, California Grand Casinos located in Pacheco dates back to the 1850s and is considered to be the oldest poker room in the world.
