The Player Hunt Season 2 Concludes With Samay Singh Modi Winning The Title

After so much fanfare and intense play from poker players, India’s first and only poker-based reality show, PokerHigh’s The Player Hunt Season 2, has finally reached its end on 14th October 2022, with Episode 7 releasing to Rannvijay’s official YouTube channel. The show came to a solid conclusion and was crowned the ultimate winner of the series. PokerHigh’s team member, Rannvijay Singha, hosted the concluding ceremony.

Out of hundreds of applications, four winning positions were announced in the last Episode.

PokerHigh founders and promoters, Mithun Rebello and Gaurav Gaggar were called to talk about their vision behind the series. This was followed by a quick Q&A session with the players, after which Rannvijay moved to announce the winners. It was none other than Samay Singh Modi who was ultimately declared the winner of the Player Hunt Season 2.

We got a chance to ask Samay about his thoughts about winning, he said, “It was an absolute roller coaster of a ride, experiencing the downs and ups during the show, similar to what we face in a poker tournament, and well, in life too.” Samay also shared his thoughts on his overall experience of the Player Hunt and said, “It’s an amazing experience for a poker player, full of fun and anticipation, especially with Harman and Rannvijay, who are amazing.”

The 1st runner-up of the series was none other than poker pro Zarvan Tumboli. When asked what made him participate on the Player Hunt Season 2, he said, “When I was approached about the same, the concept of a poker reality show really excited me, and that’s what made me participate and look forward to Player Hunt Season 3 as a wild card entrant. Regarding his runner-up finish, Tumboli said, “I expected myself to win it and not come this far only.” He continued, “Jokes apart, I am really happy with the way it was conducted and had a lot of fun participating in it and coming that close to taking it down.”

Another interesting contestant, Himanshu Chhikara, was the 2nd runner-up of the show. When asked about his strong finish and favourite moment, he said, “I put in my best foot forward and was happy with my overall performance. I cherish each and every moment spent at the shoot, be it the poker games, late nights, or the after-parties. However, the actual fun began after the elimination round.”

Regarding his thoughts about the Player Hunt, he said, “From world champions to amateur poker players, the show had a great pool of contestants and heart-warming stories like that of Rahul Kumar. Also, the unique mixed format of the tournament was amazing. The Player Hunt gave an opportunity to every poker player in India to proudly announce that they play this great mind sport and get recognised and rewarded while pursuing their passion. Special mention to the PokerHigh team for democratising the game and taking it to the masses.”

It was also refreshing to see some representation when woman poker player Avanie Joshi won the Champions of the Underdog award. When asked about her thoughts regarding the award, she said, “Honestly, I felt disappointed with myself! I was so stuck and aggressive that day to achieve a better position in the finals, but due to a few hands and a few wrong decisions, I lost my gameplay otherwise, I definitely would have been in the top three. But receiving that title for a newbie like me is also a great achievement, but I’m too ambitious about things, so that’s what disappointed me.”

She also gave a little insight into the show as well. Joshi, who released a song with American rapper Jon Connor said, “The Player Hunt Season 2 was a leap ahead from the last season and an extremely wonderful experience to be a part of. I learnt so much and understood my plus and minuses on the legit table. However, I would say that playing poker at the table is more of my thing now. But to play the game more often and to be connected, I must play it online, so thanks to PokerHigh, that’s made it so easy and exciting.”
