Parikshit Dhall beats Utsav Taneja to Sunday PKO title

Every Sunday is a fun day as a poker player on PokerStars India, as they schedule their biggest weekly offering for this day of the week. The Sunday Special – Progressive KO INR 20 Lakh GTD is a bounty tournament scheduled for 7pm every Sunday and yesterday’s action was as intense as ever.

With a buy-in of INR 5,500, the tournament attracted a field of 336 entries and eventually, only the top 55 places were paid with the min-cash being INR 6,828. However, some players who didn’t make it to the money were still able to salvage small amounts through bounty prizes.

Exactly 8 hours after it began, at 3am this morning, we had a winner in Parikshit Dhall, who plays under the name ‘Zapdos123’. He has a few wins across online platforms in India and managed to take down this one too, outlasting a tough field that included Utsav Taneja aka ‘rannyOO6’ in heads-up, who is also a regular winner online.

There were many players who tried to stop these two last night, but no one succeeded. Some of the pros to finish in the money were Sahil ‘inaboobham’ Mahboobani (28th), Rubin ‘kornkid4’ Labroo (23rd), Red Spade Pro Muskan Sethi (20th), Shuchi ‘pescatarian8’ Chamaria (7th), and others.

Falling out in 3rd place was Akshay Dhingra aka ‘IamUltron’ who won a 6-figure cash for his run, in addition to nearly 18k in bounties. Heads-up then took place between Taneja and Dhall, with the latter taking away all glory and fame. He won INR 2.15 Lakh in tournament prize money in addition to nearly INR 2 Lakh in bounties, taking his total winnings to INR 4,11,278 for the night.

Gutshot had a word with Dhall after this victory and he was elated with it, especially since this became his first major tournament victory on PokerStars India. Taneja on the other hand, narrowly missed to add another title to his long list of online poker achievements.
