Over $350,000 Donated by GGPoker to Caesars Cares Relief Fund

Be it a governmental body, Hollywood or sports industry, each community is coming together to raise funds for COVID-19. And as the poker community knows that the grandest and richest World Series of Poker (WSOP) is underway, the rapidly growing GGPoker has donated $350,000 to Caesars Cares Relief Fund.

The 2020 WSOP Online Series has been a huge success on WSOP.com, lining up 31 tournaments; the action now continues on GG Network. With massive prize pools, jaw dropping guarantees and impressive payouts, the online poker room raised $257,853 in Event #33: WSOP Online Every 1 for COVID Relief and announced that they have put in an extra donation of $96,903 to push the total donation to $354,756 to Caesars Cares.

The tournament attracted a strong field of 2,323 entries after each one chipped in $1,111 as the buy-in. At the end of the day, we saw Alek ‘astazz’ Stasiak taking down the competition to clinch to the top prize of $343,203 for his efforts after outlasting Martin ‘colinchow’ Ilobera in heads-up.

In the last 6 months, GGPoker and the worldwide poker community have donated more than $600,000 with over $250,000 raised to fight COVID-19 via earlier charity tournaments. “The international poker community really stepped up this time, and GGPoker was there to push the effort forward,” said the site’s ambassador, Daniel Negreanu. “We will continue to raise funds for worthy causes in the future, and I’m grateful to be part of something that’s helping to make such a difference.”

Executive Director of the WSOP, Ty Stewart said, “We are incredibly grateful to our partner GGPoker for their contribution to Caesars Cares. This donation will provide needed support to Caesars Entertainment team members experiencing unexpected setbacks as we work towards resuming operations and restoring normal business conditions. As if GGPoker’s idea to direct a portion of the buy-in from each player to Caesars Cares wasn’t generous enough, we are absolutely floored and elated by their decision to contribute nearly another $100,000 to the fund.”
