While COVID-19 vaccines have been rolled out and made available, the woes of the pandemic have not yet fully stopped. Even as many hoped that the new year would bring a fresh start, the ravages of the past year were still fresh. In this atmosphere of uncertainty, the gaming community in India stepped up and showed the country what all was possible when like-minded people came together to help.
As NGOs like the Hemkunt Foundation, GiveIndia, Breathe India, and many more continued to use their resources to aid the victims of the COVID-19 outbreak. The gaming industry came together as a solid force to provide COVID-19 relief. Whether it was hosting charity events through live-streams, many companies and organizations like Krafton Inc, Opraah Fx, Trinity Gaming, MPL Esports, Stick Pool Club took it upon themselves to help out.
Referring to the ₹1.5 crore that Krafton Inc donated to the PM CARES Fund, Changham Kim, CEO of Krafton Inc said, “We remain committed to supporting the efforts of the government in battling this unprecedented crisis. We hope our contributions to the PM CARES Fund will help the aid efforts currently operational on the ground.”
Events like #MaskOnIndia which was a charity live-stream held by OpraahFx and Villager Esports saw around 35 content creators coming together to raise funds for the Hemkunt Foundation. Trinity Gaming, a talent management firm also collaborated with the Hemkunt Foundation and raised over ₹2 Lakh.
The June edition of Gutshot’s e-magazine was keen to highlight these acts of kindness and generosity. From RMG to every part of the gaming community was involved in this fight against COVID-19.
