While many were winding down from a relaxing weekend last Saturday, the poker community was buzzing with excitement. Why? Because the who’s who from the Indian poker circuit had packed their bags and landed in Goa to witness a boxing match between Aditya Agarwal and Nitin Jain. Raising their fists for charity, the two prolific poker pros were battling it out for the winner’s throne in the event titled The Big Brawl.
The much-awaited boxing match held in Goa, was a hush-hush event. Attended by some well-known names like Kunal Patni, Abhishek Goindi, Muskan Sethi, etc. one could say the event was a knock-out success. With two extremely talented poker players in the ring, it was certainly hard to pick a favourite. Cheered on by their peers, the two seemed charged up than ever with ever so high fervor.
After a few intense bouts later, it was reported that the champion in the ring was none other than Nitin Jain. While both the players trained hard for this upcoming boxing match it looks like Jain reaped most of the rewards. Beating Aditya Agarwal, one of the top players in the Indian poker circuit, must have certainly been a sweet victory for Jain, even if it was in a boxing ring and not on a poker table.
Various bits and pieces of the event were posted on social media. The match was certainly a uniting force and although the news of poker players fighting in a boxing ring grabbed eyeballs, the fact that it was done for charity makes the entire event all the more benevolent. While this match was the first of its kind in the poker community, we just hope it won’t be the last.
