The US Poker Open, a series which is in its 2nd edition now, has attracted the top brass of the poker community of the world. UK’s pro Stephen Chidwick won two titles in 2019 USPO and two before in its inaugural edition of 2018, showcasing some spectacular poker while doing so. USPO Event #8 – $25k 8-Game Mix

This tournament was hosted on 20th Feb and the winner was declared the following day, when the FT was hosted. The champion emerged to be Nick Schulman, who took home $270k (~INR 1.91 Crores) for overcoming the 20-entry field of top pros from around the world.

Schulman, hailing from Manhattan, US, is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner and had previously finished 5th in 2019 USPO Event #7, where 2018 Aussie Millions ME winner Bryn Kenney won. Schulman has over $11 million in live cashes and his biggest of $2,167,500 came from an event in 2005 World Poker Finals event. He even won the 2018 Triton SHR Jeju Opening Event a sizeable amount there too.

After he won, he expressed his feelings to the on-site PokerNews reporters saying, “It feels damn good. There’s nothing like winning a tournament, regardless of the field size. It feels great and getting a clear first is exciting.”  Schulman is now 3rd in the overall 2019 USPO championship, within striking distance of Sean Winter (2nd) and Chidwick (1st).

Final Table Pay-outs –

  1. Nick Schulman – $270,000

Koray Aldemir won the penultimate event of the series. He took home $159,250 (~INR 1.13 Crores) and the title, beating US pro Ryan Reiss in heads-up. The German winner overcame a tough field of 41 entries to ship the tournament. The tournament had heavyweights like 2018 GPI POY Alex Foxen, Sean Winter, David Peters who all finished in the money.

Speaking to PokerNews, he said, “This feels great, honestly. I had a lot of second and third finishes in the last year and winning one feels great,” Aldemir said after his win. Playing these high rollers is the best thing in poker for me. I have a lot of fun playing these things. Sometimes I take a break from poker, but when I do play I just love competing with the best.

Aldemir is residing in Vienna, Austria lately and has upwards of $10 million in live cash earnings to date. He is also ranked at a respectable 9th position in Germany’s All Time Money List. He made his best live cash of an overwhelming $2,154,265 in 2016 WSOP HR for One Drop event, finishing 3rd. Fedor Holz, another German ace pro had won the event. Aldemir later won 2017 Triton SHR series ME for over $1.2 million as first place cash prize.

About the series leaderboard, Aldermir said “The leader board is very exciting, I wish more tournament series and casinos would do that. I think that it brings out more players to participate and I think that it’s also just a lot of fun to play in it.” He is now 5th on the leaderboard with total winning of $897,200 and 340 points.
