The popular sci-fi character Robocop will soon have a brand-new video game based on its first three movies. Leading film and television company Metro-Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) partnered with Nacon and developer Teyon for this upcoming project.
Robocop is a well-known TV character and MGM along with Nacon and Teyon want to create a gaming experience for its fans. Players will be able to immerse themselves in the franchise while playing the video game. The new Robocop video game is set to release in 2023. The announcement was made by the game’s publisher Nacon on a live-stream called Nacon Connet Tuesday.
The tragic story of Robocop begins when a police officer by the name of Alex Murphy is killed on duty in the crime-ridden city of Old Detroit in the future. Murphy is then converted into a cyborg hero called Robocop with no memory of his past life.
While this franchise has spread across many movies and a television series, the upcoming game will focus on the first three films. The storyline of the video game aims to put the player into the shell of the cyborg cop.
The iconic cop is one of the most successful franchises to come out of Hollywood. The first film was released in 1987 and was directed by Paul Verhoveven. While there will be a new storyline that fans can follow for the video game franchise; the look and feel of the game will mostly stick to the original look instead of a design remake. So far, there has been no other information available regarding the video game but many are hoping it lives up to expectations.
