India’s first medal poker championship, the National Poker Series (NPS) has announced the dates for its 2022 edition. This year, the prestigious poker series will include even more events than its first edition with 84 tournaments. National Poker Series 2022 will begin on 6th March 2022 and is slated to run for 15 days till 20th March. The series will be hosted on PokerBaazi, one of India’s leading online poker platforms.
During its launch back in June 2021, NPS became known as the ‘Olympics of Indian Poker’ since it was the first poker series where gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded to the top three players of each event. Last year, the NPS podium finishers were Mohammad Azhar (Gold Medal), Ankit Wadhawan (Silver Medal), and Kritagya Sharma (Bronze Medal). Azhar also went on to win a ticket to one of the biggest poker events held in Las Vegas.
In the last edition, there were 64 medal events and a total of 83,793 entries participated in the poker series from all over India. This edition also crushed its advertised guarantee of ₹15 crores to generate a final prize pool of over ₹19 crore. Due to the astounding success of the series, this year NPS will host 84 tournaments and is offering a total of 252 medals! The poker series will also have a jaw-dropping ₹18.5 crore guarantee.
Talking about NPS’ potential in the poker industry, Navkiran Singh, founder and CEO of Baazi Games said, “It’s going to inspire the budding players. NPS allows players to engrave their names in the pages of the golden book of Indian poker history. This series is all about the glory, respect, and fame that the sport has to offer. The concept has been introduced to make the game accessible to millions of poker enthusiasts in the country. With the deep-rooted internet penetration in India, our indigenous PokerBaazi app has been designed to meet the international poker app standards that can eventually be the vehicle through which hidden talents can be discovered and recognized.”
The 2022 edition of NPS is bigger and bolder and will give players a chance to gain recognition for their poker skills along with impressive prize money. For more news and updates, keep reading Gutshot Magazine. Follow us on our social handles Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Telegram.
