The mind sport isn’t played on a scale like cricket or football but it still is a skill game and has its stalwarts who are massively popular across the globe. You must know of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Tom Dwan, Doug Polk, Justin Bonomo, Bryn Kenney, even recreational players like Dan Bilzerian and Bill Perkins. But there are some others too who are cleverly and steadily climbing the popularity ladder and now can be listed under the most famous poker players title. Who are they? There is no way we can skip on Sashimi Poker when it comes to famous poker players. Only a handful of people may know Sashimi Poker’s real name, while the rest of the world google ‘Sashimi Poker Net Worth’ or ‘Sashimi Poker Instagram’ and wardrobe choice at the Hustler Casino Live.

The high-stakes pro must have never in his wildest dreams thought that Lew would call but she did and did with an J4o. What happened next left Adelstein dumbfounded and the rest of the poker universe was in shock. Lew won the hand.

3. Garrett Adelstein

Garrett Adelstein had to be next on our list of most famous poker players. This high-stakes reg at Hustler Casino Live felt cheated / robbed / wronged on so many levels that Doug Polk had to make a video explaining Lew’s cheating scandal and proving Adelstein’s claims against Lew to be accurate or shall we say 100% accurate?

Adelstein painted a twisted picture of Lew (Vincent van Gogh’s painting was easier to decipher than Garrett’s) after joining all the incongruent dots of the biggest poker scandal. Apart from this, he also cried about wanting the money back from Lew! Yes, he took the $135K back, donated the money and then went ahead to give an interview to the LA Times about never being sure again when it comes to playing poker!

4. Ali Imsirovic

Oh yeah! He’s on our list. Ali Imsirovic made headlines sure but not for grabbing a record-breaking cash. He was embroiled in a poker cheating scandal alongside fellow accused Jake Schindler. Imsirovic was banned from all the PokerGo tournaments.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national was absent from Poker Masters which was highlighted to poker Twitter by six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu. Imsirovic was accused of collusion in live poker events and making use of real-time assistance (RTA) tools while grinding online to get an unfair advantage.

Well, such accusations though don’t look pretty will put the accused on the popularity chart since curiosity will eventually get the better of a person to unravel the truth. 

5. Benny Glaser

This English poker player made news when he was among the top stacks in World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship 2022 at Wynn Las Vegas. The event had a record-setting entry field 2,960 and Benny Glaser was the chip lead moving from Day 5 to Day 5.

His stars were aligned until he hit a roadblock called Eliot Hudon. The fourth hand of the WPT World Championship 2022 final table had Glaser losing a big chunk of his stack to Hudon and never getting it back. While the poker players and industry folks applauded Glaser’s play and grit, he lost the final battle to another bluff against his heads-up rival Hudon.

6. Eliot Hudon

Who better than Eliot Hudon to be on the most famous poker players list. The guy who was brave enough to call Benny Glaser’s bluff both the times at WPT World Championship 2022 needs to be on this list. The world indeed wanted to know who this player was and that fear of missing out (FOMO) would have killed many—not literally!

Hudon played sharp and made headlines with his Bond-like moves on the final table of the WPT World Championship to eventually ship the title. He put himself on the global poker map and we are impressed with the way he did it.

From being a Canadian player who’s reportedly cashes date back only to 2019 to shipping a WPT title after beating a record-setting field of 2,960 players, Hudon deserves to be in the limelight. And rightly so on our most famous poker players list.

7. Jason Koon

Jason Koon has been around and many know of him as one of the top grinders in the international poker circuit. This pro from Weston shipped the PokerGo Tour (PGT) Championship after defeating the crème de la crème of poker. He beat Sean Winter to take down the title spot and a pay cheque of $5,00,000.

Koon’s reported cashes date back to 2008 and he’s been cementing his position on the global poker map like a man on a mission. It is not surprising that Koon made it to our list of most famous poker players.

8. Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick was among the players fighting for the numero uno spot at the PGT Championship December 2022. He’s known for his death stares. We are not kidding! Chidwick’s stare will remind you of Voldemort staring down at Harry Potter.

The sight is not easy to witness either, let alone being stared at! The English player has been grinding for quite some time now. Stephen Chidwick’s Hendon Mob stats show his reported cashes from 2008 and stands 4th on the All Time Money List! Really? Yes, Chidwick had total live earnings of $4,46,65,133.

Oh boy, that’s a lot of money. The pro who hails from Kent, England, grabbed his best live cash from £1,050,000 No Limit Hold’em – Triton Million for Charity (Event #2). He stood 4th for a prize money of $53,68,947 at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series, London. 

9. Fedor Holz

Fedor Holz is the founder and coach at Pokercode. He is also a GGPoker Ambassador. By this you must have gauged Holz’s popularity in the international poker circles.  Well, this German poker pro made heads turns and continues to do so in his own unique way! Holz who’s 11th on the All Time Money List has two WSOP bracelets to his credit and many other notable finishes.

On 10th September 2022, Holz took the 4th spot in the $200,000 No Limit Hold’em – Coin Rivet Invitational (Event #6) at theTriton Poker Super High Roller Series Cyprus, Kyrenia. He took a pay cheque of $2,100,000. Holz’s best live cash came in the form of $60,00,000. He won this sum in the $1,000,000 No Limit Hold’em – The Big One for One Drop (Event #78) at WSOP 2018.

The pro who now resides in Vienna took the runner-up spot for that amazing prize money and surely grabbed a ton of attention from the poker fraternity for his play. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Holz made it to our most famous poker players list.  

10. Alex Foxen

This American pro has one WSOP bracelet to his name and his reported cashes date back to 2012. We don’t think there’s anyone who’s not heard of Alex Foxen. He is often seen grinding in live streamed games and is a regular at popular poker series like WSOP, WPT, EPT, Triton Poker Series among others.

When it comes to the All Time Money List, Foxen takes the 22nd spot. His total live earnings stand at $2,70,66,618 and Foxen’s biggest cash grab came from WSOP 2022 when he shipped $250,000 No Limit Hold’em – Super High Roller (Event #50) for a payday of $45,63,700.

Well, if you are that pro, who’s been around and finally nails a WSOP event and that shiny gold bracelet, people will talk about you. Foxen continues his quest for top prizes and bracelets. 

11. Maria Ho

After Robbi and Sashimi Poker girl, Mario Ho made it to our most famous poker players. She is a well-known female poker pro in the international poker circuit. The Taiwanese-American poker pro made it to Day 2 of the WPT World Championship 2022 but sadly busted on the same day.

Interestingly, Ho has chilled with fellow female grinder Sashimi Poker. Some photos shared by Sashimi Poker girl on her Instagram handle has Maria Ho posing happily. From 2005 till date, Ho had a long journey in poker with bittersweet memories. In the 42nd WSOP, Ho became runner-up in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em.

The poker diva had a payday of $5,40,020 for her noteworthy run. This one also happens to be Ho’s best live cash. She has total live earnings worth $44,66,823 and the Los Angeles resident stands at the 362nd spot in the All Time Money List as per Hendon Mob. Over the years, Ho has climbed the popularity charts and has created a spot for herself in the competitive field of poker.
