Lim Yohwan leads after Day 2 of APT Championships Event

The festivities continue at the Resorts World Casino in Manila where the current Asian Poker Tour (APT) stop is being played out. Just a couple of days back, it was Filipino pro Lester Edoc who won a historic second consecutive APT Philippines Main Event title before the Championships Event kicked off.

Three days of starting flights were played out and Korea’s Lim Yohwan was the chip leader among the combined survivors from these starting flights. He was leading the 84 survivors and then pushed the pedal to the metal on Day 2, ending as chip leader at the end of Day 2 as well.

During the day, he managed to build an enormous stack of 947,000 chips, while also knocking out Lester Edoc. Finishing the day at second place is German pro Marvin Rettenmaier with 666,000 chips, clearly a long way behind Yohwan at the moment. Rounding out the top three is USA’s Nehmee Alegado with 525,000 chips.

Quite a few top pros are still in the mix and the next couple of days are going to be very exciting in Manila. Also among the top chips is Japan’s Iori Yogo, who is the defending champion, winning the title here in April. Also among the top chips is Australia’s Bobby Zhang, who won the Baadshah Live Tournament Main Event in Goa a few months back.

The ten chip leaders include players from seven different countries which is a very encouraging sign for APT. This includes Philippines’ Marc Rivera, who recently beat Akshay Nasa in heads-up to win the APPT National in Manila last month, so play is expected to be very tight tomorrow.

Top 10 current chip counts:

  1. Yo Hwan Lim – 947,000
  2. Marvin Rettenmaier – 666,000
  3. Nehmee Alegado – 525,000
  4. Jae Hyun Lim  – 517,000
  5. Joshua Chargualaf – 460,000
  6. Bobby Zhang – 420,000
  7. Marc Rivera – 398,000
  8. Sun Tan – 382,000
  9. Ji Young Kim – 368,000
  10. Feng Zhao – 358,000
