Kyle Cartwright wins WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi Main Event

Kyle Cartwright has won the 2017 World Series of Poker Circuit IP Biloxi $1,675 Main Event, defeating a field of 343 entries to win his third WSOPC main event title and his seventh circuit gold ring. This was the second time the 29-year-old poker pro won the main event at the Imperial Palace in Biloxi, MS, having taken the title in this same tournament back in 2012. This time around he earned $118,332 as the champion. Cartwright has also won a WSOP gold bracelet, having emerged victorious in a $1,000 NLH event back in 2014. He now has over $1.5 in lifetime live tournament earnings.

Once a regular grinder on the WSOP Circuit, Cartwright now says he is scaling back the number of events that he enters. “Tournaments, I don’t play too many anymore, but when I do I’m kind of successful. I should probably play more, but the cash at home is so good to where I don’t even want to travel anymore,” Cartwright to media. “I just stay close to home.”

Cartwright entered the final day of this event as the chip leader with seven players remaining. He was able to keep the pressure up and make it down to heads-up play with a 2.3-to-1 chip lead over Timothy ‘TK’ Miles. The two battled back and forth, with Miles even taking the chip lead several times.

Each time Cartwright was able to regain control, and in the end he was able to get all-in preflop with the As Kh in a dominant position against Miles’ Ac Tc. The board ran out Js 6s 4c 8h 4s and Cartwright’s ace-king held up, earning him the pot and the title. Miles was awarded $73,17 as the runner-up, one of the top ten largest scores of his live tournament career.

“I mean, he is by far the best player I have ever faced heads up. That’s not even a question. He was tough, but I kind of figured him out after a while,” Cartwright told WSOP reporters after the four-hour battle.

In addition to the ring and the money, Cartwright also earned 480 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his first title of the year, but his seventh final table finish.

Final Table Results:

  • Kyle Cartwright – $118,332
  • Timothy Miles – $73,157
  • Thurmand Boothe – $53,369
  • Kevin Benoit – $39,586
