The Sunday SuperStack is one of the major attractions on The Spartan Poker – a weekly featured tournament that attracts some of the toughest fields in India. The tournament is played every Sunday at 7:30pm and yesterday was another successful edition of the SuperStack, unaffected even though it was also the final day of the PPL on PokerBaazi.
Sunday SuperStack INR 25 Lakh GTD kicked off last evening and it wasn’t until 3:10am this morning that the tournament came to an end. Counting players, re-buys and re-entries, we had a total of 508 entries and this slightly upped the guarantee, taking the prize pool to INR 25,40,000.
The top 50 players shared the spoils of this INR 5,500 Spartan featured tournament, with a minimum cash prize of INR 12,700. However, at the end of it all, it was ‘KasolHieghts’ who shipped the tournament to receive the biggest prize of all, making another big bankroll addition.
It was just a couple of weeks back when this player banked in excess of INR 5 lakh when he finished third in the October 2oK on Spartan. Now, he’s beaten that score after shipping the SuperStack, taking home INR 6,60,400 after eliminating his last opponent in ‘terimaakijai’, with the latter winning INR 4,06,400 for finishing second.
The blinds were at 70,000/140,000 – 17,500 in Level #53 of the tournament when the final hand took place. KasolHieghts had a chip lead of nearly 7:1 and was applying the pressure. He shoved pre-flop with 9c Ts and terimaakijai made the call with As Td. The latter received no help from the board, which opened 2d 7c Jh 8c 6h and KasolHieghts hit a Seven to Jack straight to take down the tournament.
