Kalyan Chakravarthy finishes 8th in WPT Vietnam SHR

World Poker Tour DeepStacks (WPTDS) Vietnam is currently underway at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. The Main Event will begin today, and a strong Indian contingent is expected to participate. 2018 WPTDS Vietnam ME winner Dhaval Mudgal is also present at the venue and will be looking to defend his title.

Some side-events already have gone in the books, including the Kickoff where India’s top live expert and Baadshah Gaming founding CEO Madhav Gupta ran well and finished 4^th for ~INR 9.36 Lakhs. One of the highlight events, the Super High Roller is playing its Final Table as we speak.

SHR attracted a total of 61 entries, including 12 re-entries for a buy-in of VND 100 million. On Day 2 of the tournament, it was Vietnam’s Vu Duc Trung who was leading in chip counts among 19 players. India’s high-stakes specialist Kalyan Chakravarthy (pictured above in another event) was 3^rd in chip counts at the end of the day. The next day, he eventually busted at a respectable 8^th place for VND 200,230,000 (~INR 5.92 Lakhs).

Chakravarthy is a top poker professional of the country and has bagged major cashes in live events. He earned his career best live cash of $147,233 last year when he shipped the DeepStack Championship Poker Series MonsterStack event. He has multiple top finishes like Doupai Cup back in last February, WPTDS India HR, etc. Now, he has added another shining feather to his already filled cap and will be looking to continue the trend forward.

Thailand’s Phachara Wongwichit was also in the run in SHR and was 8^th in chip counts at the end of Day 2. Shashank Jain joined Chakravarthy on Day 2 SHR as one of the qualified Indian pros, but he busted just before the money. South Korea’s Lim Yohwan was also in the run.
