Jonas Wexler wins WSOP Circuit Cherokee Main Event

One of the leading poker brands of the world, World Series of Poker (WSOP), hosts their Circuit events all over the US, in popular resorts and casinos. They recently hosted WSOPC at Harrah’s Cherokee and saw Maurice Hawkins winning his 12^th ring.

The $1,700 Main Event attracted a strong 1,087 entry field and emerging victorious was Jonas Wexler who earned $300,536 (~INR 2.11 Crores) as the first-place cash prize. With this win, Wexler has won his second WSOPC gold ring, bagging his first way back in 2011 at Harrah’s Chester. This is also his biggest live score yet, topping the ~$189K he earned back at 2009 WSOP.

In the heads-up battle, Wexler was pitted against USA’s Phil Hernz. Wexler doubled into the lead early when he flopped Jacks against Tens of Hernz. About an hour later, Hernz shoved his 20 BBs with As 2c and Wexler called with Sixes and flopped a six and completed his set. Wexler, apart from securing the title and the cash prize, took home a seat into Global Casino Championship (GCC) $1 million GTD.

Wexler now has over $1 million in live cashes. He mostly likes to play in the US and almost all his cashes have come from local tournaments. The biggest cash he won before this was for finishing 5^th in $5K NLHE 6-handed at 2009 WSOP in Las Vegas.
