IOPC Day 16: Vivek Singh Slays Friday Spotlight For Over 9 Lakh


The India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) January 2022 is almost coming to an end. Last night, the poker felts on Spartan Poker, BLITZPOKER, and PokerHigh erupted with high-octane action as players battled for the top spot. With guarantees crushed and many pros and underdogs emerging victorious, the activity hit an all time high. Let’s see what went down last night.

IOPC #96 – ₹3.50 Lakh GTD

The action began with IOPC #96 which had a ₹3.50 Lakh guarantee and a buy-in worth ₹550.The final prize pool surpassed the initial guarantee by a very slim margin and stood at ₹3,61,000. There were  722 entries who battled it out. The top 63 places were paid, and the min-cash was ₹1,570. The tournament ended in a deal between Ashish Kaushik aka ‘Ataraxia’ and Shambo Mukherjee. Kaushik cashed ₹59,087. Mukherjee took ₹54,809 in prize money.

The advertised guarantee was surpassed with the final prize pool recorded as ₹6,72,000. The top 39 players made the money and the min-cash stood at ₹4,636. Player Dinesh Pilkhwal aka ‘DONKT@RD’ shipped the tournament and had a payday of ₹1,34,736. The runner-up was player ‘sanapalbhar’ who walked away with ₹89,578 in prize money.

IOPC #98 – ₹4.25 Lakh GTD

The next tournament was the IOPC #98 which had an initial guarantee of ₹4.25 Lakh. The event welcomed a total of 480 entries and had a buy-in worth ₹1,100. The participation of players also bumped up the final prize pool to ₹4,80,000 which surpassed the original guarantee. Players in the top 39 places finished in the money. The min-cash paid was ₹3,312. Mystery player ‘Sunju0101’ grabbed the top spot and walked away with ₹96,240. The runner-up position was taken by Vipan Kumar aka ‘Vipannn’ who went home with ₹63,984.

IOPC #99 – Friday Prime ₹20 Lakh GTD

The IOPC Friday Prime was a ₹20 Lakh guarantee event and welcomed a massive 2,591 entries into its fold. The buy-in of the tournament was ₹990. The event also surpassed its advertised guarantee and recorded a final prize pool worth ₹23,31,900. The top 207 places were paid and the min-cash stood at ₹2,984.

Clinching the top spot was Prateek Kurkanji aka ‘babbar26’ who walked away with ₹4,12,047 in his pockets. The runner-up spot was taken by FTS 3.0 Main Event winner Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘Shippament’ who added ₹2,35,755 to his bankroll.

The advertised guarantee was crushed, and the final prize pool was ₹56,50,000. The top 55 places were paid and the min-cash was ₹27,685.

Vivek Singh aka ‘KasolHeights’ hit the ball out of the park with this one. This pro smashed the virtual felts to take down Friday Spotlight for an impressive ₹9,45,752. The runner-up was player ‘Boudicca’ who took home ₹8,45,298 in winnings.

The IOPC All Rounder wrapped up the day with its ₹12 Lakh guarantee being surpassed. The final prize pool was ₹12,30,000. 615 entries fought hard for the title spot. The buy-in was ₹2,200. The top 55 players made the money and the min-cash stood at ₹6,027. Online reg Tanmay Benara aka ‘PlusEV’ clinched the top spot and took home a pay cheque of ₹2,38,620. Well-known player Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘Captain Falcon’ ended up in the runner-up position for ₹1,51,290.
