In The Limelight With Patni Millionaire Winner Harsh Bubna

Poker platform Adda52 recently hosted several high-value events named after well-known players from the Indian poker fraternity. From the Patni to the Lamba, most of India’s online regs and biggest poker names had a tournament named after them. The Patni Millionaire was a multi-day tournament with satellite tournaments between 13-19th December. The ₹1 Crore GTD event was shipped by Harsh Bubna, who cashed a little over ₹16 Lakh. We got in touch with Bubna to know more about his humble victory and how he took home the Patni Millionaire title.

Hailing from Kolkata, Bubna started his poker career by playing on Zynga Poker in 2009. This obsession for Zynga poker turned into home games in a few years. Around 2016, he started grinding on online felts, and we all know where Bubna stands today.

You shipped the ₹1 Crore GTD Millionaire Finale tournament and cashed ₹16,11,785 in prize money. How did the victory make you feel? What were the preparations like for such a high-value tournament?

The tournament win was very special, shipping such a high value tournament has always been a dream come true for me. I did not prepare specially for this event. I just played my A-game and ensured that I did not commit mistakes. I did run deep in the millionaire tournament and other high-value events, but I could not make a big score. Now, I am glad to have made amends with it.

What did you do with the prize money?

I added it to my poker bankroll to grind more and win more.

Have you grinded in live tournaments? If yes, which ones are you planning to grind in, in the future?

Yes, I have played in 4 live series, including the India Poker Championship and Baazi Poker Tour. I am eagerly waiting for the covid restrictions to be lifted and do a live series outside India. Playing the WSOP one day is a distant dream.

Do you have any mentors? If yes, please name them.

I don’t have a mentor, but I have done the RYE Masterclass course previously and I am currently doing the BBZ ones. Also, a shout out to Pranav Khandalkar who helped me alot in the last two years.

What would it be if given the chance to bring about one change in the Indian poker industry?

I feel many people do not really have an idea about the game and get lured by the massive guarantees. But this isn’t how poker should be approached.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Five years is a long time to talk about but in the next two years, I want to complete my CA classes and also get consistent in poker.

Other than poker, which are the other skill games you play?

I am very involved in fantasy sports and gaming. I am also a cricket, badminton, and football enthusiast.

This 27-year-old is finishing his Chartered Account course, is making headlines in the poker industry, and much more. The daily routine of Bubna involves grinding, studying, and much more. We wish him the best in poker and otherwise too! For more such interviews keep reading GutshotMagazine.com. Follow us on our social media handles like Facebook,  Instagram, and Telegram.
