All the poker players in the country, who were eagerly waiting for the Elite Poker Tournament (EPT), which will be held in Kolkata, may have to wait a little longer. The West Bengal state government in its freshly issued order stated that after reviewing the current COVID-19 situation, the State Executive Committee of West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority has recommended night curfew measures till 30th September 2021.
The order stated that all outdoor activities, including the movement of people and vehicles, will be prohibited between 11 PM to 5 AM daily. This order gives a clear red signal for the occurrence of EPT until 30th September.
EPT is all set to bring back live poker in India at the luxurious Club Fenicia in Kolkata. Poker players were looking forward to the return of live poker after it came to a standstill due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown across the country.
The event features a massive guarantee of ₹2.25 crore. But to the dismay of all the poker enthusiasts, the much-anticipated event may take place a little later.
Though the new order might be a little disappointing for live poker lovers, one thing that comes as a sigh of relief is that the organisers have not scrapped the event. Poker enthusiasts just have to wait a little longer for live poker to return via EPT until the night curfew measures are eased in the state.
Until then, you can enjoy playing poker with your peers on the virtual felts. Gutshot Magazine will keep you updated with the latest updates on EPT. So stay tuned and keep a close eye on our website and social media handles for all information regarding EPT.
