‘GTOsucks’ beats 197 entries to win The Elite on Spartan

Just a couple of nights back, Gutshot reported the news of ‘FckGTO’ winning the very popular Destiny tournament on Spartan and claiming not just INR 5 lakh in prize money, but also an entry into the Destiny Finale SnG, where he/she can battle it out for the INR 10 lakh package trip to play poker in Europe.

Last night we realized that this player was greedy for more, taking down The Elite INR 18 lakh GTD on Spartan too, for a similar top prize. Paying the INR 11,000 entry fee, a total of 197 entries registered to the tournament which began at 7:30pm last night and it was ‘GTOsucks’ who took down the title for another whopping bankroll addition of INR 4,95,692.

The player had a slight change in his ID, from FckGTO to GTOsucks, but that change of name didn’t lead to a change in game. The tournament usually sees the best poker players from across the country and even with the high buy-in, the guarantee was passed, and a new prize pool of INR 19.7 lakh was generated.

From this, the top 17 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 30,929, and GTOsucks was the biggest beneficiary of the night. The unluckiest player in the tournament was Anirban Das aka ‘pokernoob’ who bubbled the event, finishing in 18th place. However, many other Spartan regulars made the money, including Sagar Choudhury aka ‘Strangeplay’ (7th) and Aniket Waghmare aka ‘Anteman’ (6th), with the latter claiming the first 6-figure score of the night – INR 1.14 lakh.

The tournament continued and Siddharth Karia aka ‘Schemer77’ was another top player who busted after a deep run, finishing in 4th place for a payday of INR 1.8 lakh. Eventually, GTOsucks beat Kanishka Samant aka ‘Wildflower’ in heads-up, taking away the top prize while Samant had to settle for the runner-up pay-check of INR 3,34,900.

The tournament ended in Level #43, with the blinds at 18,000/36,000 – 4,500 and GTOsucks holding a 3:1 chip lead prior to the final hand. This hand ended at 3:17am this morning, when GTOsucks shoved all-in pre-flop with pocket Fours against pocket Kings of Samant, who didn’t have to think much before making the call. However, luck wasn’t on Wildflower’s side last night, with the board opening 2c 4h Qd 2s Js and GTOsucks completing a full house on the turn.
