Jake Bazeley wins WSOP Circuit Cherokee Main Event

The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) had hosted its latest stop at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in the state of North Carolina, USA. The series ran from Nov 22 to Dec 3, a 12-day affair that ended on a happy note. The next stop on WSOPC’s list is the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.

The Main Event of the Cherokee stop, dubbed as the ‘WSOPC Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event’ got over on the final day of the festival. The event had two starting flights followed by two days of action-packed Main Event gameplay. The buy-in was fixed at $1,700 and the guaranteed prize pool was $1 million.

American pro Jake Bazeley won the Main Event, after winning the same event at the same venue four years earlier. The second time champion outlasted a huge field of 1,127 entries to earn his second WSOPC gold ring and the top prize of $311,616 (~INR 2.19 Crores).

That last time was my first huge win,” Bazeley reacted to the WSOP reporters after his win. “I was comfortable today, coming in… I’ve been here before.

The player hails from Ohio, where he is ranked 4th in the All Time Money List, below Keven Stammen, Byron Kaverman and David Peters. This is the fifth largest score of Bazeley’s career, bringing his lifetime tournament winnings to a staggering amount of $4.3+ million.

Bazeley was in the 11th position in terms of chip lead entering the day. The chip leader was WSOP bracelet winner Kyle Cartwright, who grew his stack even further by going on spree with eliminating Trey WaltonAllen Kessler and Nghia Le. With that, Cartwright set the final table of 10, entering with 100 big blinds in his stack.

Bazeley eliminated Toby Boas just before the heads-up, gaining a massive chip lead against Cartwright. The final hand saw Cartwright shove his stack pre-flop with Ace-Queen. Bazeley called with his pocket Tens. Bazeley shipped the tournament when he flopped a set, denying Cartwright his 8th gold ring.

There 13 gold ring events lined up in the festival. Some of the gold ring winners are Daniel StatmanMartin RyanTom Gouveia and Blake Whittington.
